No, the med school has to provide certain documents. One I distinctly remember was uploading a picture for you.

Even if I'm wrong, your med school must give you the token

I just did this as I reapplied this past year. You can get the ERAS token by purchasing it. The only thing your med school has to submit is the mspe/Dean's letter. I am an IMG. A lot of my documents went through ECFMG. So there may be some other documents that your med school may need to submit if you are an AMG.

Hi everyone, would really appreciate some help please. I am US IMG with good Step scores (240s) who matched IM. I had to resign due to health reasons after about 6 months of residency. The program was very malignant and I don’t think my PD will write me a good LOR , but I might be able to just ask for a letter to show that I was in good standing I was a very good intern didn’t fail anything and scored very well on the in training exam. Is a letter from my PD absolutely necessary or can I just get some sort of certificate or paper to show what rotations I’ve done and that I was in good standing and wasn’t terminated? I want to apply for FM residency programs as after 6 months in IM and observing the FM program I truly realized I belong to FM vs IM. I will try to get some letters from attendings (maybe 1 or 2 max) can that take the place of the PD letter?
Also is funding an issue here? Will I get credit for the 6 months I did? Or did I lose a whole year of funding and would a program need to pay out of pocket for me to repeat pgy1 in FM?

Thank you so much for your help. I’m not sure how to post a new post here so I’m just responding to this thread and hoping someone could help. Anyone been in this situation and re applied and matched IM to FM without a PD letter? Also what happened in terms of funding?

Thank you again

How will you convince a PD the health problem is solved?

The health problems are related to my pregnancy and I’m slowly recovering.

The credit will be program dependent. Some programs may give you some credit others might ask you to start from scratch. Also if you were not terminated or did not resign pending termination that's good, but make sure that's true. Also you may need to show evidence of your health reasons. If you had a cold and resigned because your PD was malignant, and used that as an excuse that might be problematic. If you had brain cancer and needed brain surgery that's different or something serious is my point. I'm sure oher programs can know when someone truly had issues vs an excuse.
Youll need letters, it's difficult to say whether a PD letter is needed or not. I did not use a PD letter from my advanced program when I switched but I think that might be an oddity rather than the norm.
