Hello. I am a non-traditional pre-veterinary student hoping to apply this next cycle. I obtained my bachelors of science in environmental studies over 10 years ago, but had a very low GPA at the time of graduation (2.53). Over 2 years of school my last 45 GPA is 3.8/3.9. Altogether, my cGPA will more than likely not reach 3.0. Therefore, I will be limited on where I can apply next cycle. UC Davis is my in-state school and has a low cGPA cutoff, so I am putting a lot of eggs in one basket in hopes of achieving an acceptance to their DVM Program. In the meantime, I am looking for any guidance, mentorship, or resources for navigating the application process. Thank you!

If there aren’t any classes that you’re using for prereqs from that initial bachelors, some schools (I know Illinois does specifically) will allow you to petition to ignore any academic record older than 6 years. If you’re looking for other baskets to put eggs into and all your prereqs are more recent, you could look into Illinois and see if there are any other schools with similar things.

What is your science GPA? How many of your pre-reqs are wrapped up in your environmental science degree? Are you repeating any courses? UC Davis doesn't weigh cGPAs heavily, but it sounds like they still 'consider' them at some point (whatever that means).

It would be helpful to post more detail in the 'What are my chances' thread. We can give more advice/suggestions when you fill in the blanks.
