I'm in my third year of my marketing major with a 3.72gpa. I do well in theorical classes but in math I'm terrible. I repited the same math 4 times! 2 w's, 1f, and finally a B+. The other courses are great. I had difficult classes where people struggle and I do well but is just...math!! I hate it. I did take some electives in biology and have A's. I wanted to pursue a career as a non-traditional dental student with a post bachelor degree but I'm afraid that this is going to look bad at interviews. Do I have a chance?

I volunteer weekends in a local hospital and the humane society. Also, participate in a shadowing program in a medical school and work with my dentist for 100 hours.

Since I was little dentistry was what I wanted to do. My fear to math was the only thing that make me to change my career goals. But I realize is my passion. Is all I want to do, have my own clinic, balance my work and personal life, be creative, help my patients. I want to give my time to third world communities. But I just want to know if I have a chance. I was wondering if I take a Master Degree in Public Health would be good to.

HELP!!😕

Passing gen chem 1 and 2 and physics 1 and 2 with poor math skills will be difficult. I suggest you take those courses and see how you do.

This is the truth. I too have very poor math skills, but if you can succeed in your general science courses (pre-reqs), then you will have a shot for sure. It's not about the terrible math class you wrestled with at all. It's about the pre-reqs, your over-arcing GPAs, and your DAT scores.

My biggest hurdle was the QR section on the DAT. While chemistry and physics are closely tied to mathematics, with the proper tutoring and practice, you can do well in them regardless. QR however is straight math, and even people with average to strong backgrounds struggle with it (or perhaps just fail to prepare well).
