Hi,

I am in mid 30's and came to terms that I need to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a doctor. That is what I always wanted and did try it out when I was a student back in the country I was born. Due to several political situations of the country could not get in.... Long story short, went out totally in a different path but never found peace with what I have been doing.

Anyways, Finally decided that I wont find harmony until I achieve this and I still have some time to give it a shot. I am working, 2 kids-older one in elementary school... So, gave myself a year to prepare for MCAT while I get my degrees evaluated. I started preparing this january (2012) for MCAT and planning to give take the exam in March 2013 to apply for universities in 2013 Sept aiming admission in 2014 (sounds ambitious)

A lot of folks on other forums suggested that I take SN2ed 4 month preparation and try to finish it and not lose the admission year of 2013. I am working full-time, mother of 2. The 4 month SN2ed schedule looks very vigorous... With my constraints, if I follow SN2ed schedule...

- How many hours should I give myself in the day?
- Is this schedule possible with my constraints
- what would you do if you are in my shoes?

please advice

As the father of 2 kids on MCAT (one 3/24 & one July, 2013), I can qualify to give to you my 2 cents comment. I have been there & done that.

1 Family first.
2.MCAT beast is mean and cruel.
3.SN2ed schedule was never in the designer's mind  from the beginning to be for part time MCAT student. It is tight, and unforgiving but is very good if you use it correctly.😀

You have waited for so long already. Take your time & do it right. My goodness, have 2 young kids, full time working, and try to study MCAT, then applying the schools all within the coming 6 months. You need to be honest to yourself how far you are willing to push to the max? 😕

If I am in your shoes, (I don't know all your facts) I will do the following:
1. Gather all the study material as much as possible to start for the cycle of content study and review. Map out your days with this. You don't need to ask others. You kown your own schedule better than anyone. Set a goal as late Oct 2012 comes, you will be a superwoman in PS, BS , & VB contents. (You can do some passages in books as time goes on, but NO FL test).
2. Print and start mapping out SN2ed plan now assumed from early Nov 2012 to late Feb of 2013. This is very important. You need to modify it a few times till you are happy about it. Believe me, it will take some time before you are satisfied with it.
3. Sometimes in early fall, buy all the FL from as many companies as possible.(min AAMC 3-11, BR 1-5)
4. Once you start your SN2ed schedule, you will be moving "on time".I have seen enough people on this forum falling behind & messing up because they don't leave room for daily surprise that distract them. (my son get caught badly too and almost screw up out plan because we learn about the SN2ed plan too late & he is on full load of school) Yours case is as bad as it is if not more.
4a. Since you already have a solid content, you can move much faster & without killing youself 😛.
4b. Leave the option of mapping the FL tests, may be, the last part of the 4 months schedule.
5. if 4b is what you want, leave enough room after 4 months schedule to push on the straight road to kill all the FL test you can get your hands on.

I have not said it all. But you get the idea. Believe me, with kids, as you know, you have SURPRISES every day. They control your life. You need to leave some room in case 🙂.

Best wishes to you 👍

P.S. Getting your MSAR book this summer & start planning your medical school application the summer/fall of 2013.
