For the purposes of nonclinical volunteering, do children count as underserved? I know that volunteering for the underserved specifically is important for many schools, so I was wondering if tutoring schoolchildren would count as nonclinical volunteering for the purpose of medical schools?

IMO tutoring is non-clinical volunteering. However, it is not service to the undeserved unless they are from a needy community or situation.

Do you think just because they are kids they are underserved? I’m not sure but I think there is a section for teaching/tutoring. Check into that.

Sorry about that. What I meant to ask was “how is service to groups that are not necessarily needy viewed in the context of nonclinical volunteering (I.e. is it lesser nonclinical volunteering)?” I’ll remake a thread asking that.

No need to make a different thread. Tutoring kids who are not necessarily "needy" might be best tagged "teaching/tutoring" rather than non-clinical volunteering.
