None of this shows up on a criminal background check, right?

Hello,

I have a clean record, but just a few car-related incidents.

I've had two minor collisions, both in parking lots, where I was found to be at fault by insurance companies. Police were not involved, my insurance paid for the damages to the other vehicle, there was no bodily injury.

I got a parking ticket once for $20 for not having current registration stickers. (I had registration, but the stickers had been stolen).

I've been in two other accidents where I was not found to be at fault. I was once ticketed for unknowingly parking in a red zone, but I appealed and got the fine dismissed because there was almost no red paint left on the curb.

I know this looks like a silly question, but I know that in some states traffic tickets or accidents are classified as misdemeanors/infarctions. Does anyone know if this is the case for CA?

Please be serious, I know I'm being neurotic, I just want to cover all my bases 🙄

Only way to be sure is to run one on yourself

I doubt it; but look up rules specific to your state if those are misdemeanors.

thanks. I can't seem to find anything online that denotes any of those things as misdemeanors, so I think I'm safe.

Have any CA applicants/matriculants here had any problems with this sort of thing?

Haha, true. I am the most careful driver while on the street, but parking lots just don't agree with me it seems🤔

I've never had my insurance go up though, so I'm happy😀

if police is not involved, there will be no criminal activity. Parking ticket in CA doesn't show up, neither does the registration sticker violation (I've gotten both -none of them were dismissed).

Thank you for putting me more at ease!

No, none of this will show up on a background check. A friend of mine totaled a vehicle and seriously injured another driver in an accident and has never had problems with background checks. Accidents are not crimes.

However, in some jurisdictions, if you have lots and lots of unpaid fines from parking/speeding tickets, a warrant can be put out for your arrest.

It's not going to show up. I'm from CA and have gotten a speeding ticket, parking ticket, and been involved in accidents that I was not at fault in. None of that stuff showed up.

If you call the district circuit court clerk where each ticket was issued, they will look up your specific ticket and tell you if it was a misdemeanor or not.
