This is a bit long. I have tried to break it up for ease of reading since I hate being hit with walls of text.

This is more of a what would you do than a what are my chances thread, but this seemed like the most appropriate forum for this topic.

I am a nontraditional applicant. I am currently 25.

Current GPA
3.2 Cum(MD)
3.8 Cum(DO)
4.0 BCPM

I have not yet taken the MCAT or begun my preparation for it.

I plan to take it next June.

At the end of my Junior year my projected GPA will be 3.44 if I continue to get A's.

At the end of my Senior year it will be a 3.57 if I continue to get A's

My GPA is dragged down because I went to school for one semester in 2004 and dropped out halfway through. This left me with 16 credits of F.

I have retaken all but one of the classes.

I returned in 2009 and every grade since that has been A except for an A- in writing.

Because I took no financial aid my freshman year, I can afford to continue undergrad through a super senior year thus leaving me with a 5 year undergrad.

This leaves me with two options.

I can apply with the 3.44 after this upcoming school year, my Junior year, or I can wait another year and apply with the 3.57 after my Senior year.

A large motivating force in my desire to apply after the Junior year is that it will save me all the debt incurred by having a 5th year of undergraduate study. Another motivator is my desire to enter medical school sooner rather than later.

I am wondering if the fact that I will have a severe upward trend will make up for the low cumulative GPA and thus make an application after my Junior year a viable option.

My top choice school is SUNY at Buffalo for personal reasons. Their median GPA is 3.76 and their median MCAT is 33. I am a NY resident which helps according to their website.

I plan to apply to 20+ MD schools as well as 1 or 2 DO schools.

Too soon to tell. Continue what you're doing. I think you have a shot at MD.
