I recently had to stop my research because my children needed me to be around more, which meant doing some major living situation rearrangements (they were previously living away from me during the week). Hopefully the break will be temporary and I can start again next semester after things have settled, but I wanted to see if there were any non-trad 4th years and up or anyone with some insight that could tell me about non-trads that weren't able to do much in the way of research or extra curriculurs and how it affected their match chances.

I'm a non-trad. I had a family (4 kids and a husband) and I had to do research which I mostly did at home when my little one was still a baby. I still had to do all the ECs just like a traditional student.
