its been about 5 years since i graduated college.

since then i've been employed, unemployed, traveled, got a masters.

i have about 3 years unaccounted for on my AMCAS post-secondary experiences. none of this time was relevant to medicine (i.e., home depot, english teacher in japan, bond trader, etc). is this cool to not list

Would you prefer adcoms to think you sat on your butt and had no contact with the world around you for 3 whole years?

I think not. Not everything you do has to be related to medicine. It shows you have other interests, which is a good thing.

even if it was unrelated, post it on amcas.

You should list these experiences. Even if they aren't medically related, they might still appeal to med schools. They show that you are a well-rounded, interesting person.

heck yeah you should list them!! i taught english in japan also and am damn sure going to put that down...anything that makes you stand out. definitely put it! 👍

Heck yes, put it all down.

I was out of school for almost 10 years before going back for my post-bacc, and I was in the artistic field. (Okay, I was an actor.)

That's all anyone wanted to talk about at interviews. They love stuff like that.

I've heard that it's very good to put down nonmedical activities b/c it shows you are 'well rounded'. The teaching in japan thing is perfect for adcoms...they will eat it up. 👍
