On a flat plane, doesn't the normal force equal weight of object, aka mg? Then why does example 2.13a in TBR physics say N=the object's mass in lbs?

On an incline, the Normal Force is usually equal to mgcos(theta). (I say usually because sometimes you have to consider tension pulling on your object as an additional component to the normal force. This is rare though).

lbs is just another expression of weight.
