Hello everyone,

New to the forum, wondering if NS-LIJ has sent out any interview invites yet.

Additionally, is anyone familiar with the program? I know that they have a new chair and a brand new eye clinic in Queens which apparently sees lots of pathology, but other than that I haven't heard much about their residency program.
It seems from their webpage that their grads do quite well in terms of fellowships ...

Any input on NS-LIJ is much appreciated, and good luck everyone with the interviews et al!🙂

The new chair is from within so the transition has been smooth. He was actually the LIJ chair before the merge so it wasn't a big deal at all.

The Queens clinic is an incredible resource. A ton of patients, great pathology, and lots of attendings. NS-LIJ also covers Manhasset, LIJ, and Syosset hospitals. There is also the entire NS-LIJ health system that transfers for surgical cases. So you get a trauma center, a children's hospital, and all the subspecialties many times over. Syosset hospital has a beautiful eye OR.

The grads do really well. I hope it continues for next year's match 🙂

It seems from a previous thread that the program will sent their interview invites sometime next week (hopefully), so for those of us who have not heard yet, hang in there, guys and gals.

kassie, thanks for the information on the program. It's great that the residents cover such a large number of hospitals/clinics -- it makes for great exposure (maybe more so than in NYC, which packs quite a few programs in "one area"?). Do you know if most of the rotations are in one spot, or they are equally divided between facilities? (I guess I am trying to determine if there is a lot of driving/commuting involved).

Additionally, where do most of the residents live? Is it somewhere in LI, or they have the option of living in Manhattan also?

Thanks again for the advice! 🙂 Good luck with next year's fellowship match!

they sent their invites yesterday.
