I guess many of you are probably in the same boat as I am...and I was just wondering what you folks were thinking.

So I, like many of you, was originally invited to interview at Northwestern on 11/17-11/19, which conflicts with Yeshiva's interview for which I already confirmed attendance. I ask Northwestern if it is possible to reschedule for 12/5-12/7. They write back to me and instead hope that I can come and visit them on 11/14-11/16...but that's when my Penn interview is already confirmed to be. So I write back and again ask (or implore...) them to allow me instead to interview 12/5 to 12/7. I wouldn't be surprised if they just rejected me outright for all the headache I'm causing them.

What are the rest of you doing about this?

You meant 10/17 - 10/19 right? Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I asked for December and they emailed me back with November....I'll just have to say that I can't make November either (Cornell) - they'll work around it (I hope). My thinking is that if you're qualified enough to get an interview in the first place, they'll try and work with you to get you to come up and interview. Remember, it's not a one-way street. Schools want applicants to visit their awesome programs and facilities and faculty members etc.

Yes. I did mean 10/17-19...and I think you're right. I guess there's nothing we can do about it anyhow :-/.

Northwestern said they'd accomodate me for 12/5-12/7...they're so nice!!! :-D

Hope to see you there! I still haven't responded to Northwestern saying I can't make the November date...

Some earlier posts allude to a lengthy list of NWU interview questions. Does anyone know an active SDN member that has something like this? I am interviewing on Nov. 16th. Anyway, if anyone is interviewing on that day, it would be nice to make some connections/share some strategies.

I was wondering if your Northwestern status page says anything about being complete or about those LOR rating sheets being received? My 2ndary and letters were received a LONG time ago, but I was waiting on those cover sheets. I haven't heard any word about being complete, even though I know that those sheets were sent out several weeks ago as well. GAH! I really liked Northwestern!!

ahhh, I was just there. It's no different from any other interview. Just try to be charming and tell them about your research. I don't know how there could be a lengthy list of interview questions anyway. They just told us to make sure that the interviewer doesn't spend the entire time talking about their own research so that we could get a chance to tell them about ours. You'll probably do fine.

For those of you who have already been to the Northwestern interview, their interview information says dress code is business casual with no tie. Do most interviewees follow this?

yea, everybody did

no suits, just business casual

but one guy did just wear a suit without the tie...but thats kinda cheating 😀
