I got an email from the assistant dean I think it is - saying basically "thank you for coming to interview" blah blah "we were impressed with the remarkable things you have done" blah blah "if you have questions contact..." blah blah.

Now, did *EVERYONE that email who interviewed? I interviewed on Jan 20something (i forget)? did anyone NOT get that email?

I didn't get any such email - but I interviewed for the HPME program, which is very different from the standard NUMS interview I guess.

my interviewer shook my hand before the interview. is that customary or am i really special? thanks.

I interviewed on 1/31, and received a similar email early the next week. I think it's just a thank-you note, and doesn't signify anything in particular.

Yeah i think/thought it was just a genetic thank-you letter - but it did seem kinda really nice... so i was wondering if EVERYONE that interviewed their got it. Because, remember UofMich sent emails to people they accepted before the AMCAS allowed date to allow acceptance notifications that was kinda similar. Oh well... trying to be optimistic.

regards, kreno

I didn't get it.

🙁

the dean email is not "the" email. if you are in and they are giving you the nudge-nudge, you will get an email from hallen chung saying something about how she is the point of contact for newly accepted students (with the newly accepted students part being underlined). at least that's what happened when they gave out the handful of acceptances back in dec.

hope this helps. maybe it'll be the same for the march acceptances.

Yes, Hallen Chung - that's who sent the email i'm talking about - i just looked now. So.... this *IS* a nudge-nudge kinda email? Or, do they also send it to people that ended up getting rejected? EXPLAIN! thanks!

also, goodmonkey, you're from mi right? what school?

Has your application status changed on the website?

does it have the underlined point of contact to newly accepted students part in it? that's a nudge-nudge.

i graduated from umich in dec 99 and did a year of grad work at msu in '01-02. i now reside a bit outside of elans. i may be back at umich in the fall. (i turned down NW, btw)

status page is the same

here's the email:

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for coming to Northwestern to interview on 1/24/2003. We all took pleasure in meeting you. I realize how much effort it takes to rearrange work or school responsibilities, make travel arrangements, and mentally prepare for the interview day; we appreciate the continued interest you've demonstrated in Northwestern. I hope that you enjoyed your day at Northwestern as much as we enjoyed having you here.

Interviewing at Northwestern is a very important time for us in that we finally get the chance to see and speak to you, after reading your application and learning about all of the remarkable things you've done with your life. It's also a great time for you to look us over and determine if the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University is where you can thrive during four of some of the most important years of your life.

On your interview day you learned that you would receive a final decision following our March 21st decision date (letter to be mailed out shortly thereafter.) The Committee on Admissions has the tough and tedious job of evaluating the many candidates who've interviewed and reaching final decisions in a short period of time.

Certainly there was time for you to ask questions while visiting on your interview day but oftentimes applicants think of other questions after the interview. Should you have any concerns or questions that remain unanswered, or if you just want to touch base every now and then, please do not hesitate to contact our special projects coordinator, Hallen Chung. Hallen can be contacted by simply replying to this email or by calling her at 312/503-8206.

Northwestern provides its students with the best of all worlds: the best education and educational resources, the best clinical and research experiences, the best opportunities to be taught and mentored by faculty who are well respected in their fields, a great location within the city of Chicago, and the best and happiest student body one could want. The students we choose to interview and matriculate at the Feinberg School of Medicine have shown they too are among the best. I want to thank you for considering Northwestern for your medical school home.

Best Wishes,

Delores G. Brown, M.S., M.Ed.

Associate Dean of Admissions

hm. nope, i think that is just the dean letter. i got one of those too. my nudge-nudge letter was from hallen chung herself and not from the dean directing me to hallen. and right after i got the nudge-nudge letter, my status page said a decision had been made.

best of luck! 😀

Don't worry about that nudge-nudge letter.

I got accepted to NW in december, and i NEVER got that email, not even afterwards....don't know how it works, but just look out for your status saying

"decision has been made"

and then a week later, a small manila envelope.

I've also heard that the nudge nudge letter doesn't come to everyone that is accepted. I don't know though, if anyone who was waitlisted got the letter from Hallen Chung too.

Does anyone know when NU stops interviewing? I'm STILL "under consideration." Which I guess is better than the rejection, but this is getting pretty late. I sent an email and they said to keep waiting. Any ideas??

I believe they send out decisions on the 21st of March. I'd assume they stop interviewing at least a week or so before this, but I don't have any concrete information.
