I am looking for help comparing these 2 programs since they are so different. The main things I am concerned about are the acuity of the patients in the EDs, the level of autonomy the residents are given, and the job opportunities available upon graduation/reputation.
It seems to me that Cook County probably has sicker patients than Northwestern, but also has much more non-sick patients which use the ED as a family medicine/social work clinic. If this is true... which program will offer better training in caring for critically ill patients?
Any info would be much appreciated... Especially from those who have rotated there, or are current residents.
