Not yet, i am on four waitlists..argg.

Im on the waitlist and it should have started to move on May 15th, but you never know. just got to play the waiting game. Kind of giving up but you never know.
I called this morning and Pamela told me that movement started "late last week" but couldn't give me further details about how much movement she expects.
That's the impression I'd gotten as well; however, when I called on this past Tuesday (the 29th) in the afternoon (~4PM), I was told point-blank that there had been *NO* movement on the waitlist as of yet this year. She seemed very sure of herself too, which has me a bit confused (though hopeful, means we didn't miss the first wave). I'm not sure which to go with, either way, I hate carrying my phone around with me all day and freaking out every time a number I don't recognize calls.

Everytime I've called, I've been told that there was "some slight movement", I guess it depends on who u talk to. I'm just amazed it has only been slight because extrapolating the percentage of people that seem to be declining their spots from mdapps, it seems there shd be lots of spots available, so I don't understand the wait. But beggars can't be choosy so the wait continues🙁

I have inside info on the ratio: they offered ~350 acceptances, for ~140 spots. Those numbers are at least in the ballpark, they came straight from a high-up in the office. So it seems we have some more waiting to do.... 🙁 hopefully we'll see some decent shift this year, though I know in the past it has been as low as 3 spots from the alternate list, and sometimes as high as 40.

Ha, I know...I'm full of speculations. The minute I saw it, I thought "ooh, maybe I got in." It's probably some mistake, though. If not, I'll keep you guys posted.
i got that email too, ltrain, 20 minutes after i got my acceptance letter on friday. hopefully that means you're going to have an exciting monday👍
You just got in off the waitlist at Northwestern? If so, congratulations! Was it just the letter in the mail that let you know?

yes, it was an acceptance. i'm not from the chicago area but my state is pretty close to IL, so maybe the mail was fast for me (postmarked may 30th). my head is still spinning and i only have one day left to decide. i don't think i've made over $20K in my lifetime, so staring down $250K is going to be hard for me. northwestern is a dream come true, but i could also be really happy at my state school, so this is going to be a tough call.

I emailed and got a call back from the dean...I'm in, but they sent my acceptance to my old address. They are supposed to now fax me the stuff. Only one day left? How long did they give you?

I actually didn't do anything, which is why I'm completely shocked. I sent an update to the dean in the end of February, before I got the waitlist decision. Since then I've just...waited. I don't know what I'm going to do...this is going to be a really hard decision for me...and I'm hoping I get more than 1 day to make it!

they said to complete and return the form "within a few days," ltrain, so you'll have a little while to think about it. i think my time has just about run out, though.
Thanks for the well-wishes. 🙂 I am kind of surprised that both yourself and questionable were notified through the mail; NWstern's method of choice for the past few years seems to have been personal phone calls. Let us know when you decide! 😀

Haha, you are not the only one. This waitlist is killing me too. Please Feinberg *whine*.This, SUNY Upstate and Vermont are also waitlists no acceptance for me either. Have you done anything to show interest?
I've called ~1 time a week, I wrote a letter of intent/interest in Mid-May, and I've requested a character-letter from an alumnus I know. That's about all I feel like I can do without being seen as a bother. 😀

lol, hey eruethemar, is northwestern your only waitlist or do you have other waitlist options?
It's my only option. 🙁 I've already gotten my stuff ready to apply in 2008... I'm losing hope rapidly on my chances of getting in off of the list. It doesn't seem like it's going anywhere anymore, and I have no idea who is even notifying the canditates now if Dean Brown is gone.

Hmm, when I called, it did not seem like they had lost the dean of admissions. They told me that there has been movement and they expect more towards the end of the month and in the beginning of july. So, dont lose hope yet, but still work on reapplying. Good luck to all of us still hoping on Northwestern😀

The new acting dean is Dean Lappin (sp?). When I sent an email to Dean Brown a week and a half ago, Dean Lappin called me back by phone to tell me Dean Brown had retired. I don't have an email address for her, but if you call the admissions office, I bet they can hook you up.

For those who are interested, I have sent in two update letters and one letter of continued interest. Also, I called every two weeks to inquire about any movement. Cool. I know I sure as hell wouldn't pass up the opportunity. 😀 Yeah, it is a bit strange about Dean Brown, but I'd be hesitant to assume corruption; she'd been there for awhile. I hope there are more spots comin' down the line!
