Does anyone know what schools traditionally have lots of waitlist movement?
 
state schools with the exception of cali state schools tend to have lots of movement (e.g. the SUNY schools usually have a ton of movement)

Many schools have this unranked waitlist thing. In such case, the only thing separating a person who gets off waitlist vs. a person who never gets off is sheer luck. It's not as if you were better or worse than another person who had a different waitlist fate. For example, Tufts' criteria for deciding who to accept off waitlist is largely based on which applicants will help to give the school a well-balanced student body distribution (home state, alma mater, etc).

Now, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to keep expressing (without being overly repetitive or annoying) interest. They have to be thoughtful and well-timed. I really believe that my interest letters helped me out in this process. In fact, I'm not sure that I would've gotten interviews from NYMC and Tufts without those interest letters.

Seegulz and Dr. Will, you guys each have one waitlist position at a second-tier private medical school. I may be wrong, but those are the kinds of schools that typically see a lot of waitlist movements. Which is why it's all the more important to let them know that you're worth it because you've worked hard and have the right experiences, that they're your first choice, that you'd love to go study there and you'll inequivocally attend if accepted.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket by counting on getting into your one waitlist school, because you might set yourself up for disappointment. Keep plugging away on the upcoming year's secondaries. But I also think that you guys have a shot at starting this fall. Sorry if I rambled, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Kind words otter, thank you. BTW, I am probably going to send a third letter of interest next week. They told me to wait about 4 or 5 weeks (about a week ago), but I figure that it couldn't hurt. I also hope to submit to AMCAS in the next ten days.

Don't be afraid to leave your name, there *ARE* going to be some of us left over in August, and since none of my waitlists have moved yet - AND I'm on the lowest tier at my state school - It's very likely I'll be one.
