Does anyone else have too many extracurriculars to list? How did you guys decide on what to list? I guess I could move one of my community service/volunteering experiences to work experience...but then the hours wouldn't count for volunteering/community service. 🙁

If I've held positions in these organizations, should I just list that in the description or should I write a description and then add something like: "Several positions held"? I don't have room for both.

Also, I've graduated, so I'm starting all new activities...should I make sure to put at least one of these new activities down? That could also cut into my extracurriculars in community service/volunteering.

Just pick what is most important to you. I'm sure some of the positions/things you added on your list aren't all that important and you can afford to leave off your application.

I would keep the activities that were the greatest time commitment or that meant the most to you. Keep in mind that you want to be a well-rounded applicant so stick with the activities that will show that you have many interests, outside of the dentistry-related activities.

Thanks!

Almost all of my extracurricular activities are of good quality. I basically need to either cut a 2-year commitment (with leadership experience) or a 300 hour volunteering experience. I'm thinking I'll be able to put the volunteering under "work experience" (even though it's not a real job) because I was paid my work-study money while volunteering. That way it'll go somewhere, and I don't have any other work experience, so that category won't be left blank.

Should I make spaces for things I'm starting right now? Because I graduated...so I'm essentially starting new activities... For ex. Activity X, Started August 2012, # of hours so far, and then check off that it's ongoing... or are they just going to assume I'm keeping busy if I only put my college things and then I can tell them the new things I'm doing during the interview?

I don't have a clue about what I'm going to do if I ever need to reapply. Hopefully that won't be the case! :luck:

Well a bunch of my activities are related, though not the same thing. For ex. tutoring elementary and middle-schoolers, volunteering with underserved children, etc. There's nothing I can do to change that at this point, though.

How many spaces are available on application?
