Are some of the schools not filling seats because they simply don't have enough applicants or are they lowering their class count? Or is it that they would rather NOT fill their seats than accept some of the applicants?

Each seat is tuition going to the school.

They should have plenty of qualified applicants to pick from especially with the influx from MD/DO applicants this year (as marginal as those numbers are).

Lower class count could be a combination of: lower # applicants, applicants that are not qualified to receive a seat, school wants to try something new and cap/hand pick higher quality applicants to boost numbers.

Temple filled their class last cycle. They also appealed to CPME to accept 101 students but were denied because Temple is capped at 100.

Around the start of the school year I talked to several of the administrators and faculty at one of the podiatry schools. They essentially all talked about the drop in applicants to the schools and how big of an issue that it was to balance filling their seats and not accepting sub-par students.
