So I've been casually studying for a few weeks and since I wanted to stop procrastinating, I registered for the 5/31 exam. I did the 1st 1/3 of each chapter and since I started the schedule Sunday, I went back to the EK 1001 for Physics today instead of waiting until the weekend to see how much I have retained. Yech. My question is, do I stay on the same chapters until I get everything before I move on or just keep going and hopefully things will fall into place? I just don't feel confident with the content. Like I am still having to look at notes to answer EK1001. I've been doing mcatquestion.com when I'm eating or waiting around on lines, watching videos, etc. Physics and Chemistry are really bad. But surprisingly, Vb and O-chem have gotten better. I hope I didn't make a bad decision in registering for this thing. 🙁

read, read, and reread chapters. The only way to learn is to drill the information in your head. Everyday i read two chapters of the TPR bio book no matter what else im studying that day. By the time i get to test day i will have read it cover to cover around 20 times or more. I also reread chapters i dont feel comfortable with several times. Then i do the problems till i get them. It's all repetition

Do you suggest I keep rereading the passages in BR and EK1001?

I strongly advise against ek 1001 because its nothing like real mcat bio passages. I would advise buying the tpr science workbook and do every bio passage from there and redo tbr bio passages.

Understanding the concepts is very important because you will be asked to bridge and apply a lot of the material that you are studying now. Unless you understand them you can't really apply them to something else. If you don't understand it you can either reread or use this forum / other resources until it sticks. 🙂 Good luck!

What do you think about rereading Physical sciences over and over again to help me get the concept down? I am also making flash cards of the ones I am especially weak in. Thoughts?

Yes flash cards can really help you to narrow down your weaknesses. Ideally your stack of flash cards with things to learn will get smaller and smaller as the MCAT approaches. I think, especially in physics, it's important to really understand the concept rather than memorizing "reading over and over". Get help if you need to!

I am also studying for my mcat, and I reread a chapter if I am not able to mater the content in that chapter. I'll reread or supplement it with videos (Chads), for physics I prefer rereading, gen chem (haven't had problems yet, but if I do) I use chads gen chem (its amazing)
