Is it possible for a PT school to consider you or even look at you if you meet all of the prereq requirements except overall GPA? I'm looking at Texas schools and the overall is 3.0, but mine is a 2.75. I have a 3.38 prereq, so I do meet that. What do you guys think? Would it be silly of me to ask the admissions office?

It's worth asking at least. Unfortunately a lot of schools will automatically weed out your application before a real person even looks at it. Also, when I was in this situation last year a few admissions people explained that they actually can't make any exceptions on that because it's somehow tied to their accreditation. (Like they would lose it if they did ??)

The University of Mary, ND, has a minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.75. The minimum prerequisite GPA (we calculate our own pGPA) is 3.00, though for the past couple of years the minimum pGPA for an interview has been 3.35. Our average pGPA is 3.65.

To my knowledge, a program's GPA requirements are pretty set in stone. If you don't meet their GPA requirements then they won't even look at your application. And just meeting the prerequisites are one thing, but to get accepted or to even get an interview your GPA usually needs to be much higher than the minimum.

Agreed. Every program I talked to said their GPA limits were non-negotiable. They use those to narrow down the field prior to interviews.

If you don't meet the minimum requirements, you probably shouldn't apply. There are a few schools in Texas that only look at your last 60 hours (e.g., TWU and UNT).

Thanks! Those are the schools ai'm applying to this cycle since I do meet the minimum for last 60hrs.
