Hi All:

I don't have much time left and still have Embryo, micro and pharm to cover. I'm a SLOW reader so...

Think FIRST AID is enough for these subjects if I know FA really well in these topics?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Luw,

Sorry to hear that you are running out of time..... But to answer your q quickly... YES..... FA is strong in both Micro and Pharm (especially Pharm). Of course CMMRS would have been a good review of micro before using just FA Micro, but you'll do fine if you know all of your bugs, et cetera cold. In addition to this, make sure you know FA Pharm like the back of your hand....
Embryo.... eh...... not too high-yield so if you can, cut it down to like a 1/2 a day, and focus the rest of your time on Micro and Pharm...... Remember to give yourself at least 5 days of re-reviewing FA only.... NOTHING ELSE. Try your hardest to hit up Path, Physio, Micro, Molec Bio, and Pharm more than anything else. Do the lower yield stuff in the mornings and focus the rest of the afternoon and evenings on HIGH Yield material only.

Let us know if you need anything else.

Good Luck

i agree with the previous poster, i would focus ur time on pharm and micro. glance over embryo but it's not worth the time compared to pharm and micro. FA is good enough for pharm and micro if u're in a time crunch

Thanks so much for your advice guys! I mean, I COULD read CMMRS if I really wanted to but I'm a slow reader and get bogged down with details too easy so I think then I'll stick to FA Pharm and FA Micro.

It's also a bit scary because even though I thoroughly read BRS Phys and Path, I feel like I'm forgetting all that stuff and have to rely on FA as a refresher.

Are most others feeling this way as well? I just don't want to be so nervous as it comes down to crunch time.

Any other thoughts will really be taken to heart! :scared:

Thanks 😀

I haven't taken the boards yet, but based on what people told me and the nbme practice tests, I'd say that really FA is the way to go.
(well, one of my classmates, who just took it, said all the drugs on her exam weren't in FA...but I think she was an exception to the rule).
One thing tho: I find it useful to read parts of Katzung & Trevor's Pharm, Examination and Board Review. Yes, it is a big book, but it is really useful as a reference with FA (FA pharm is based on it, so it is easy to follow). This is because Katzung is very clear on the mechanisms. Roadmap Pharm is a miniature version of this (I think it's written by the same authors), so you might find it useful, if you really have just like a day left.
Good luck!

Thanks for those suggestions Jacob.

Umm...as for your classmate that had pharm questions completely unrelated to any pharm in FA....that's kinda scary. I hope that doesn't happen to me since I'm relying on FA so much for pharm. Isn't that strange? FA is so thorough on the drugs...not even one pharm question related to FA? 😕
