Hi guys, I finally took my DAT today. These are my scores :
PA: 22
QR: 18
RC: 19
BIO:19
GC:23
OC:19
TS: 20
AA: 20

I feel like these scores are not competitive enough, and I don't know whether I should retake the test after the 3-month waiting period at the end of August, or will I be ok? I don't even know if I have any chances for UOP, since they take DAT scores very seriously. But if I retake the exam in September, I'll end up applying late. What would you guys suggest?

I'm planning to apply to :
1) UOP
2) UCSF
3) UCLA
4) University of Colorado
5) Oregon Health & Science University
6) University of Washington
7) USC
8) Western University of Health Sciences

Should I consider applying to more schools?

I graduated last semester with a degree in physiology, 3.74 GPA, 2.5 years of dental assisting experience, 1 semester of Biochemistry research, and some hospital volunteer experience. I don't really have any outstanding leadership positions. This fall/spring (gap year) am going back to school in fall to take the microbiology prerequisite, while still working and doing research.
Do I have chances getting accepted to these schools with my DAT results?

I think your scores are good enough, as they are balanced by your awesome GPA (if that's your science GPA). You have dental assisting in your book, which is going to look great to adcoms. I wouldn't retake, but I would add more schools to your list that aren't atrociously difficult to get into like UCSF and UoP. Washington also highly prefers instate candidates. If you're from California, I'd keep some of the Cali schools, but otherwise, I would try changing the list a bit. Good luck and your stats are definitely impressive!

I agree with dentalgirl. You have every reason to be confident. 22 on PA is way solid. But your big money winner is the 2 + years assisting. I assisted prior, and not only was it a tremendous boost to my application, but wow what a huge help at the start of school. When some of your classmates are still trying to tell 28 and 29 apart and have alginate running down their faces and onto the floor, you'll probably be carving a David with your high speed. People will be so grateful for your help.
