I signed up for tomorrow's MCAT exam and did not manage to cancel it in time. If I just don't show up for the exam tomorrow, will my MCAT record be affected? Would I get score of 0J for not showing up? Or do I need to show up, take the exam, and then choose to have my score "voided" at end of the exam?

Thank you!

i'm pretty sure you can not show up and it's as if you voided... except it probably doesn't count as one of your 3 shots as sitting for the test. - i'm not sure really, but i am fairly sure that it's not a 0

Thank you!

I was afraid it'd be scored -- as a 0 -- if I don't show up for the exam. I know it'd be useful to take the exam tomorrow for practice and then void it, but my dad would have to drive me there (since I can't drive -- which is really sad 😳) and back, and it's 1.5 hrs drive from my house to there, so I don't want to bother him. 🙂

Ummmmm I think you're risking too much by just assuming it'll be voided. Just give AAMC a call and find out. It's worth the call.

I tried calling but they closed early today, Thursday.

Yesterday, I called to cancel the exam, but was told that b/c it's within 40 hours, I can longer cancel it. The person told me that, "This late, what you can do is to just not show up for the exam."

I didn't think to ask him if it'd affect my score -- just realized it this afternoon. But I assume, since he told me specifically to not show up, it wouldn't hurt my score. At least, I hope he wouldn't have said that if it'd result in a 0?

It will not hurt and will basically be like a void.

I would take it anyway so I could see a real test because the real one seemed harder to me.

I'd love to, but that would amount to 6 hours of driving for my dad -- and if it doesn't count, I don't want to bother him so much.

I'm very glad to know that it'll be like a void, though! 🙂

From MCAT Essentials:

Absences

If you do not attend an exam for which you are registered, neither your registration nor your absence will be reported to schools. Additionally, the registration will not count toward the maximum three attempts you are allowed within the testing year. If you wish to schedule a new test date, registration will be available two days after the date you missed. All fees for the new registration will apply—unfortunately, we cannot transfer the fees from the date you were absent to a new appointment.

Thank you so much! I feel a whole lot better knowing for certain. 🙂

Wow... seriously?

People are way too nice on this board. I think you need to step it up a bit...

Not to be mean...but arent you old enough to drive yourself.

I am. I actually have driver's license. But, being in college without a car, I haven't actually "driven" for 3-4 years now, and neither of my parents would trust me with their car.

basically...thank you for your $250, come again

Very fortunately, I received FAP, so it was only $85 -- still a significant amount of money, but if it had been $250, I would definitely have taken it.
