We've discussed this before.Hello. I am currently applying as a reinvention applicant. My GPA's are under 3.0 but my last 56 credits of upper division science courses are at a 3.8 GPA.
My MCAT is a 506 (127-123-129-127)
I have ample amounts of clinical experience and volunteering.
Great LOR's
However an issue I am running into is schools are looking at my grade trend and giving me the boot. This would not be an issue if it was an actual year by year trend. It is not, it took me 6 years to complete my undergrad due to failing courses early on. My senior year as classified by both AACOMAS and AMCAS is a consolidation of my final three years in college. The final two years being my greatest academic performance. I emailed a school I was rejected from and spoke with the admissions director and brought it to their attention and was given a secondary and told that I was competitive.
My question is do all schools only look at the GPA trend instead of actually looking at the grades and courses? I feel this puts me at a great disadvantage seeing as I did these two years of upper division classes while enrolled in my undergrad to save money. I know Goro's stance on this but I would also like some others insights as well.
I can only talk about my own school, but we look at your app, and can see a semester by semester course load. Screeners will do the same.
You have to accept the fact that in a seller's market, med schools can afford to pass on applicants like you.
