Hello Everyone,
I tried searching around for my question but I'd rather get current feedback. I will be a junior in the fall and was wondering when I should start prepping for the MCAT. I have finished all the pre-reqs except for physics which I will take this fall and spring.. The MSAR checklist says in the second semester of junior year I should start.

Thanks

I heard that if you take it in the summer of your junior year your application would be too late to consider because the amcas application opens in June and if I try to prepare my app at that time I will not have my MCAT score.

I dunno. If you submit the application June 1st and your a strong applicant. Then taking the MCAT in July shouldn't hurt. I personally think that applying early is determined by the first few months, June & July. Some people think July is a little late already; I don't.

Take it in the summer before your senior year, but don't waste time studying for it during your Spring semester.

I'm a post-bacc, so no way to avoid the terrible gap year for me, but I took it 2 weeks ago, June 16, ~ 6.5 weeks after I finished up the Spring semester. If you don't have a job, and you knocked out our pre-req science courses, 6.5 weeks is plenty of time to prepare for the MCAT. 8 hours a day, 6 days a week means 260 hours of studying. If you jump on things, you can submit your primary app early in June, waiting for your MCAT scores to come in July.
