Hi All. Having been a WW player for a number of years, and watching the "wolf-training" that goes on here, I implore you to consider the following:
  1. Remember that because an individual is a wolf in a single WW game does not automatically make them an expert at wolfing. They can only provide their opinions and personal experience.
  2. Please take comments on SDN from current wolves with a grain of salt. Every wolf and their pack is uniquely sketchy. What works / worked for one wolf does not mean it will work for you. I appreciate that they share their experiences and opinions, but again, that does not make them experts.
  3. Every WW game I am aware of wolves who were lynched because of information they received from comments made by current wolves "giving advice" here on SDN.
  4. The game mechanics, the rules, night action processing, and the complete roleset (both role names and abilities) change every game. Prior-Wolves OFTEN provide outdated and often flat out wrong information regarding the current lynch cycle.
Please take these comments not as negative comments, I only request that you are an educated student of the art of wolfing and highly qualified player. Your best resources are: the Future WW games thread, Celebrating WW games thread, and Dubz's School of Wolfing and Sketchery. Together, they are the ones that create the games, set the rules and requirements and ultimately, it is the mods who assign roles (despite what they may tell you about RNG).

Future WW games: Future WW Games
Celebrating: Celebrating soon enough - six years of WW games in pre-vet

Could you give an example of this kind of advice? I’d like to make sure I am routinely spreading disinformation.
Sure: Incorrect kill choices and/or use of abilities, Content Posts, PM advice, gameplay intricacies (post analysis/bussing/village cred).. to name a few.

As a mod I have to take ire with you suggesting that you are the #1 person to go to for wolfing advice. You don't know all of the intricacies of wolfing and game design simply from having wolfed a lot and I think you would miss on some very valuable advice for your wolflets this way. I have heard of many wolflets who failed to make it to end game because of this.

I just explained this post to my boyfriend for 5 minutes and how much I loved my grandmanatee for this.

My boyfriend’s response: “Are you like in some veterinary cult?”
*grandmanator. Please don’t spread misinformation about the family tree. You are the grandmanatee. Feel free to check with your grandmanator if you have any further questions.

Maybe those wolflets just weren't paying attention to my instructions...

I mean look Dubz, your grandmanatee doesn't even know the difference between a manatee and a manatee. Clearly from a teacher not ready to teach students the intricacies of how to bold a lynch vote and hit enter

I'd like to hear a specific, real-world example of how someone wolfed incorrectly based on something their SDN manatee told them to do (with thread quotes), and then how they got lynched specifically for that (i.e., the mod told them so) I'd wager those are very, very few and far between - if they even exist at all.

No this is not okay. You should really go to your manator for all of your questions. She, after all, is the self proclaimed number 1 best source for information on this forum.
There is a reason I have a step manator. She meets a need that my manators do not.

jk i luv u kara & dubz

Dubz has talked to them all and they pointed directly to their manators as the source of the misinformation. This misinformation from manators other than Dubz was the only reason they were lynched and did not win the game.

I would argue that this is exactly the problem I am trying to prevent. If she had only come to me for advice directly, rather than depending on her fellow players well...maybe she would understand the terminology

Was it firsthand? That is key. Can't have any self-reporting, we know that's never accurate.

Did you not provide her a terminology post? I’m pretty sure it is outdated by now, as well as the nicknames post.

I created the terminology post, but I did not commit to keeping it up to date.

I asked myself in the mirror and reported back to myself and the peer players are definitely the problem. This was not a case of self-reporting because I was not wearing a reporter's hat and also I heard my answer with my own ears as opposed to reading it, which is what you would have to do if it were a report

I wonder why SDN is being targeted here. I don't see anything similar on the massive Werewolf Facebook group.
Ugh. Frankly, that group is so much worse. It's a cesspool of idealism, misinformation, and poor advice given by people who've never so much played WW.

All I am requesting of our WW community is that nooblets reach out to me with questions about wolfing rather than talking to only each other. I don't think that's unreasonable.
I think that is a perfectly reasonable request. If only you had worded your initial post so politely, instead of coming across as an arrogant dingus who knows absolutely nothing about the wonderful world of WW.

I created the terminology post, but I did not commit to keeping it up to date.

Plus, the Future WW games and celebrating thread aren't even up to date most of the time. I've seen games that I was currently playing listed on the "In Development" category in the Future WW game thread.
Can I get my money back because subs can’t even keep a terminology post or the future WW game thread up to date?

Actually, for s's and g's, I just looked at the list of games on the Celebration thread and I can already tell you it's wrong for at least the MMeat game. That game is from February and it is actually not on there, so it sounds like whoever made this thread needs to double check themselves before you taut it as a 'best resource.' If someone chose their WW game readthroughs directly off that thread, they'd read subpar games when there are other games that would be more informative for them to read. If they go to the mods directly, they'd be able to see that.

I remember having to fact-check every single thing I read from your threads because you guys are so frequently outdated, misleading, and sometimes flat out wrong. Just saying.

Dubz,
You and I have even talked in person about this and quite frankly, much of what you say here is overstated. Most people encourage pre-vet students to PM the mods and ask them about their specific requirements.

While there may be some misinformation, this board needs feedback from current wolves and wolflets. The reason sdn WW is here is because a need wasn't being met by other organizations like MafiaScum or MafiaUniverse. Your advice is well-intentioned, but also hyperbolic. I highly doubt many wolves were lynched solely due to advice from this board. Which, again, is usually to seek out information from the established resources.

I just explained this post to my boyfriend for 5 minutes and how much I loved my grandmanatee grandmanator for this.

My boyfriend’s response: “Are you like in some veterinary cult?”

Yes, yes you are.
