Nova deposit...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just read on the Loan Quiz that all stafford loans cannot exceed 8.25%. Is this true even if issued after July 1? Thank you.

It's funny that I know more about Nova through this website, more than the school itself..... 😀

There is NO explanation about when to register, when we will get loan, stuffs like thats are not informed to ALL the admitted students..We each have to go and find that out ourselves....it's just weird....

but I know that we have to make sure that both 2 $500 are cashed, and cashing out the checks also take time..More waiting and waiting.....I hope everything will be cleared up by end of July.....

But thanks to ALL of you, who informed us with infor..I really appreciate all of those posts....thanks. 🙂

Hey congrats myliham !! Im pretty sure its ur acceptance package. Just out of curiosity when you go to your webstar account summary what does it say ?? Hopefully I will get mine this week. Last time you got your high hold letter before me too. Even though im in state. Well..I guess I'll just have to wait. congrats again !!
You are right. It was the actual acceptance letter. My status still say not full accepted when I try to log in. Mabye they have not updated their system yet. And what is with sending all the transcripts from all the previous schools. I thought whatever Pharmcas sent them was enough.

Miss Sushi: Thanks for posting that information. It really helped clear things up! You rock! haha.😀

If the in-state student budget is $38,930 I wonder what the out-of-state student budget will be? Anybody know?!

Don't panic... you have a while to send them! Crystal told me that because I'm taking one of the pre-reqs over the summer at a CC to just wait and forward my final transcript after the class is over in June. If you are all done with classes, I would recommend that you go ahead and get everything in though!

Yes, you do need to send a copy of your final transcript to Nova. I'm not sure if you need to send it to PharmCAS though. 😕

Miss Sushi,

Hello, I go to Nova and will be a P3 this Fall. Anyway, you will be offered the entire 31,000.00 in loans. If I remember correctly the school did not change our status to fully admitted student until orientation week. Also after the first semester of school you usually get your money 1 week before classes start. I can not remember when I got my money the first semester , I will check webstar and let you know. If you have any questions feel free to ask. At first it seems to be a frustrating experience with Nova and Financial aid but I can promise you after the first semester everything gets better. lol Oh and do sign up for direct deposit it is soooo much easier. 😉

PMart (Davie campus)

Thanks PMart! lol I have dealt w. Nova financial aid in undergrad but geeeez this seems so much more 😕 ! I am def going to get direct deposit... now I just have to go to my bank to go get checks- I use my debit card for everything, I have no checks! I wish they could just take down my account # & routing # and just use that! Oh well, I'll quit whining now and go take care of business... 🙄

PS: Everybody, I just checked Webstar and my requirements under Financial Aid --> Eligibility are all satisfied! Yes, this includes the admitted to a degree program requirement!! 🙂 Oh, but my 2nd $500 deposit still hasn't been cashed yet... Hopefully they can start processing my fin. aid already!!!

Nova cashed out my first $500 in April, but it shows on webstar today....
hasn't cashed out my 2nd $500 yet..hopefully soon...Even though I sent it to the right adress and stuff, but still worried that it got lost somewhere. 🙄

Anyway is lucky with the process of looking for apts????? this is something else that takes time...

Does NOVA only need a final transcript form your last school or what? In my letter, I was asked to mail final transcripts from all the schools I attended. Can someone clarify this for me.
Thank you

sushi,

why were you fully admitted and not any of us? i thought we had to wait until we register? thanks

I would look on apartmentguide.com or rent.com- I used both to find my apartment. Also, if you find an apartment on rent.com and sign a lease with that place, rent.com will give you $100. 🙂

Hey myliham,
You need a final transcript from all the schools you attended sent to NSUCOP I think 6 or 8 (not sure how many exactly) weeks after you register. But I think you need to also send the final transcript from your last semester to the school after you're admitted. I sent my final transcript from my last school after I got it, and then sent all of them (including that last one again) like 3 months later. I couldn't tell you though if sending that last one from my last school twice was pointless or not. haha

It's weird... I'm not fully admitted yet, b/c fully admitted= all requirements are satisfied under financial aid eligibility (including admitted to a degree program) AND you have to be registered. So that whole "admitted to a degree program" thing, I don't think it means I'm fully admitted (just partially I guess? haha). But I think they might be able to process some of my financial aid, just not all of it... I know you have to register to have it fully processed, and I got this e-mail from financial aid the other day:

" 2006-2007 Financial Aid Application Notice

We have received your request for financial aid at Nova Southeastern University for the 2006-2007 academic year. However, we are unable to continue processing your financial aid, as your file is incomplete. For more information, please access WebSTAR, which will provide you with details regarding your financial aid, as well as other student services information. Please take immediate action in providing the required information/documents.

Once in WebSTAR, click on "Enter Secure Area," and enter your User ID and PIN. You will then select "Student Financial Services and Registration" and click the "Financial Aid" option and link to "My Eligibility". Choose "Student Requirements," and select the 2006-2007 aid year. This will provide you with the information required to complete your financial aid file.

If you are required to complete a specific financial aid form, you may click on the Outstanding Requirement(s) that are underlined and download the document(s) necessary to complete your financial aid file, or you will be taken to another page where you can satisfy the requirement. For the 2006-2007 academic year, all income information is based on the 2005 calendar year. If you are required to provide an income tax return, you must submit a signed 2005 income tax return. Do NOT provide your tax form unless it is listed as an Outstanding Requirement. Failure to submit information/documents in a timely manner will result in a delay of processing.

If you have recently submitted the required information/documents,you may disregard this request. If you are no longer interested in applying for financial aid, please notify our office as soon as possible."

I rec'd this e-mail when I had "admitted to a degree program" as an outstanding requirement. Now it's fulfilled & I'm wondering if it will get the ball rolling... Did any of you get "admitted to a degree program" satisfied on webstar yet?

I just checked Webstar and I still haven't been admitted into a program. GRRRRR.

I know how you feel....im still so frustrated 😡 ... I have yet to receive my official acceptance package after I received the letter to chose which campus I would like to accept and reserve a spot for....I go on webstar everyday and run home checking my mail after work... :scared: anyways ..this sucks ..well hopefully I'll hear from them by the end of the week.

Myliham Hey I was wondering what does it say in your account summary ? Mine still just has the $50 application fees on there.. 😕 😕

My account summary also has the $50 on for now. But my status does say Admitted to the Program. I guess it takes time.

Good Luck.

Newsflash from financial aid counselor:

"Your loans will be processed with the new interest rate of 6.8% because they will be for the academic year 2006-2007. You will receive your Award Notice sometime in July. Your fall disbursement will be just before the beginning of your fall classes in August."

Let me know if any of you hear anything too! 😉

Hey folks

I heard that NOVA takes care of our hepatitis B shots so I was wondering if I should leave this part blank in my immunization form, or should I get my shots.
I think there's no way I can get the 3 shots before class starts.

So what do you guys think?

Hello,
NOVA does take care of your Hep B once you are in school, so do not worry about that one. they will give you a specific date and time (along with everyone else) to go get your first shot as well as the other 2 in the series. Good Luck with all the paperwork etc. lol 🙂

PMart

PMart is right, although I think Nova charges for the Hep B shot series... best bet would be to try to get a job at a hospital as a tech, then they give you ALL SHOTS FOR FREE! Yeah! 👍 hehe that's what I'm doing 😉

Hello Ms Sushi and everyone else,

I know you all must be getting excited, orientation will be before you know it !!!

Nova does not charge for hep B shots as long as you go when they tell you to, now if you do not go during the time they have allotted, they do charge you.
It is sort of a pain because they will give a certain time frame for many people to get their shots, I would always make sure to show up early and be one of the first people at the clinic so I did not waste an entire day there.

PMart

Oh sweet... I totally thought you had to pay for it lol glad there is a P1 around from Nova on here! Thanks PMart 😀

PMart... if you don't mind could you tell us what the rest of the professors are like (Block, Yuan, Hernandez, Armayor, Shreier, Evans, and Shepherd)? I realize that it will be your personal opinion but I like to hear about different professors before classes start so I somewhat know what to expect. THANKS!🙂

Oh, and what exactly is the Dean's Hour? Service Learning?

It's soooo nive to have a P3 in here to help us with some questions...thanks PMart...greatly appreciate yr time!!!!!! 🙂

Calrx,
For the most part all of the professors you have your 1st P1 semester are good. Yes each and every one are different and you will have many different experiences, but overall you all lucked out with the professors you have. For some of your classes even if there is only one professor listed you may have many ( this is the case with Biochem)

Dean's hour is once a week and it is pretty much an information session, the professor for this class is great.

Service learning during your first year consists of community service hours
( you will not be placed in a pharmacy or anywhere that has anything to do with pharmacy lol) You end up usually at an elementary school helping kids, this is supposed to help you with communication skills as well as dealing with the public hehehehe Oh and do not miss the service learning class, they have steep penalties (10 points off final grade for each unexcused absence.
thank Goodness the class is not every week!!! 😳

If I can think of anything else I'll post

PMart

Thanks PMart... you rock!😀 haha

Thanks for the info, PMart.

I have a rather silly, not very important question. I understand that we need to wear business attire up until the White Coat ceremony. I just wonder for the men at least, do we need to wear the jacket as part of the business attire? I rather wear the shirt and tie alone because of the weather, but I don't know if they specify that.

Thank you.

Eugene,

Hello, you do not have to wear a jacket, but do have to wear a tie. Nova is really strict about dress code especially when it comes to the P1 class lol. I am not kidding you, there were actually times during my P1 year when people were told to leave because they were not in dress code lol. I found it funny but I guess they figure we are supposed to be professional and follow rules hehehehe
Once you get your white coat you have to have that at all times, the Dean is super strict about people having their white coat. Once you can wear scrubs you will be soooo happy , it really is much easier especially during those weeks when you are crammed with exams. (which is pretty much every week lol)
Good Luck
PMart

Okay, i think i got this right, but i'm unsure... here goes.

I am not fully admitted to the program, because i have not registered for classes...

I cannot register for classes, until i go to Orientation...

Once i go to orientation, i can then register for classes, which means i can then be "fully admitted" and thus apply for financial aid.

I will recieve my financial aid, before having to pay for classes.

Is that correct? 😵 or can i register for classes before orientation? ((tried to, but for the life of me cannot figure out how...))

thanks for your time 😛

Yeah, I also have that problem too. In my webstar, they still list me as an undergraduate senior for this fall (which I will be if I do not go to pharmacy school). The only thing I know is that they credited my deposit.

I guess I will not be able to register for class before orientation if they do not update my profile. Should I be concerned about this or just wait until orientation to straighten everything out?

PS: Can we order new white coats at any point in time? I already ordered 2. I'm starting to think I will need more than 2 white coats to get by one year (they will be soaked with tears). Thanks.

Does your webstar account still say that you haven't been formally admitted into a program yet?!?! I called Crystal today and she gave me big attitude saying, "we have 360 student profiles to update." I've been accepted for a while now so I REALLY don't understand what's going on at Nova. Grrr....😡 Should I not really worry about this?

Yes, you can go to the uniform store anytime and order more white coats or buy scrubs. By the way, does anybody know exactly when our white coat ceremony is?

Approximately a month from orientation.

OK I wrote an e-mail to the Student Financial Services Counselor and here is what she responded with:

"Once you are fully admitted and registered you will receive an Award Notice via your NSU email account. Your Award Notice will delineate how much money you have been awarded for the year. We award financial aid for the year (9 months for pharmacy students) and disburse the funds per term. Once before the fall term and once before the beginning if the winter term. After you receive your Award Notice you will need to go back online (you will receive a separate email) and choose a lender and sign a Master Promissory Note. You will need to choose your lender each year although if you stay with the same lender you not need to sign another Master Promissory Note for 10 years. If you are beginning with 90 credits or higher you will be beginning the program as a graduate student. You will be eligible for Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans. The maximum amount of Stafford Loans that you can receive as a pharmacy student for a 9 month period is $31,000. This breaks down to $8,500 in subsidized (which is a need-dependent loan) and $22,500 for unsubsidized. You will receive half of each of these amounts for fall and winter. Your funds will come into the university and post to your account. The university will take out all of your tuition and fees and refund the remaining back to you. The Bursar’s office will post your refund in 5 to 10 days of your funds arriving at the university. Your Direct Deposit takes two days to go to your bank from the date that your refund is posted.

Fall disbursements for 2006-2007 arrive in the university on August 7. So, if these dates remain the same (sometimes they change as it gets closer to the beginning of the term) your refund will be issued 5 to 10 days after August 7.

If you need funds that exceed your Stafford Loan amount then you will need to apply for a private/alternative loan. You can do this through our NSU financial aid website, www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid. If you are an in state graduate pharmacy student your budget is $38,930 for the fall and winter 2006-2007 academic year.

Please let me know how I can be of further assistance."

So I'm not sure how you can find out your award after completing the authorization form & loan entrance interview... I had those completed ages ago anyway and it didn't seem to make a difference. 😕

PS: The NSUCOP website has posted the classes we will be taking in the fall with their CRN numbers. Just a heads up.
What if you do not have 90 credits?
