I am looking for primary care, possibly a fellowship after internal.
My main concern is quality and quantity of clinical rotations. I would prefer not to move for rotations, as we are looking to buy a house (non-trad).
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

ICOM hasn't graduated a class yet so I can't say much about it. There are rumblings on this site about NOVA DO and I don't know much about Liberty but I think it has a not great reputation either. So it's between UIWSOM or RVU. UIWSOM had a COMLEX first-time pass rate of 83.22%, a 95% match rate, and 56k tuition. RVU had a COMLEX first-time pass rate of above 93%, a $58,330 tuition, and a decently impressive match list. Overall, I'd go with RVU but it's your decision.

NOVA >> RVU/ICOM. Wouldn't recommend attending a for-profit school and I believe RVU is. They are all expensive so don't let nickels and dimes dissuade you from choosing the school that best fits your needs. UIW is a newer school and as the person above stated, the board scores being in the low 80's is a bit of a concern. I can understand high 80's to low 90's but not 83%. LUCOM has very strict policies and regulations embedded in religious doctrine and has left quite a bad taste in everyone's mouth since the dean of their undergrad affiliate went a little off the wagon. Not saying a religious school is bad, but keeping them separate during one's medical education does hold some pertinence IMO.

Overall its your decision. As I say in every post, you're gonna be a doctor no matter what you choose so just pick the school that you feel best fits your overall needs and ensures your ultimate success. I wish you the best of luck and future success. You should be proud of your accomplishments! Congrats future doc 🙂

**Side note: I received acceptances this cycle to UIWSOM, LUCOM, NSU-KPCOM, ACOM, & NYITCOM-JB so I am by no means an "expert"

the only thing I will say is RVU has pretty solid general surgery matches every year if that is something you are interested in. RVU will produce a good education the problem is more with how things are run.
Overall I say RVU- UIWSOM>NOVA-LU>>> ICOM
honestly, you will have to go to the place that feels best for you, not with the opinion of internet strangers.

I can't recommend any of those schools except for UIW.

Nova DO is scary for declining boards, but not terrible.

Liberty is a dumpsterfire. Avoid at all costs.

ICOM and UIW are both very new. I have little information there.

RVU is for-profit. If this does not bother you, they are a solid school unless something has happened recently which I am unaware.

My personal opinion is RVU > UIW > Nova > ICOM >>> Liberty

I appreciate it. My main concern is staying in one place for rotations. From what little I know, UIWSOM does a good job with this. Any

I'm simply hoping to go to a school that gives me the education I need to obtain a primary care residency. It seems like the general consensus is that UIWSOM is a solid choice, which happens to be the direction I was leaning. I certainly appreciate the input!

I was accepted to Nova and am declining due to the new campus just being opened, as well as a new MD school they just opened. A lot of unknowns there along with the low board scores and rotation question marks. Plus it’s hella expensive to live in that area. Tuition will be the same generally across the board, but looking at cost of living in general is a good idea in my opinion. Also keep an eye on what scholarship opportunities there are at each school.

I have an interview at RVU-SU and they seem like a decent school with good match rates and board scores. I know it’s pretty expensive to live in the Colorado campus but that’s about all I know

Cost of living in CO is ridiculous. I live in CO and I cry a little bit every time I make a rent payment lol.

RVU seems like a good school besides its "for-profit" status. Lots of resources for its students and great board scores. One negative is that it seems like they have only a few scholarship opportunities.

edit: RVU also has 60K+ tuition on top of high cost of living = kind of an L

Yeah agreed. For profit doesn’t really bother me tbh but cost of living is a turn off there in Colorado. I’m curious to find out the expense of living by the Utah campus.
