Hello, I am a new member here and I am currently in the process of applying this year to a few optometry schools: ICO, SUNY, Midwestern and NOVA.

My question is this; My GPA is 3.2 and I have not taken the OAT's yet. I have shadowed and I currently work as OD tech at a Eye doctors office.

The application fees to apply to all schools is $261 and I don't want to waste money applying and not getting anywhere. NOVA is the school that is my last choice and I know I cannot be picky, but does anyone know if it is difficult to get into NOVA? Do they have a campus? Should I even apply there?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I got accepted to Nova with a 3.15 but my OAT was 340/370. They said GPA was low but my OAT and experience made up for it. I guess it depends on how you do on OAT and interview.

I loved Nova's campus. I wouldn't write it off so easily yet. They have a large campus compared to just a few buildings and great integration between PT,OT, dental, pharm, nursing, and med students. Also, applying to only 3 schools is a little dangerous, especially since your GPA isn't amazing and you don't have OAT scores to back you up yet. SUNY is definitely going to require some hardcore OAT prep to get into.

hey guys I just got an interview to NOVA! I was wondering if you could tell me what the questions were like, ie more factual or more conversation based...and any tips would be great =) oh and if it's Open or Closed file.

Open file with 2 doctors, mine was one older and one younger. Not too long, about 15-20 minutes. Very conversational. What do you want in a career, where do you see yourself in 10 years, etc. Then we met with the dean and went on our tour. I had to skip the financial aid session since I had a flight to catch. Beautiful campus, student tour guides were awesome.
