I will be attending NOVA in the winter to start pre-med.

Is there any one out there that is currently attending NSU Biology (pre-med), or any graduates from this program have any inside information, tips, experience and stats on getting into Medical School?

I didn't go to NSU, but I can tell you some stuff. Don't overload yourself with courses each semester. Just concentrate on getting straight A's. GPA and MCAT are the biggest factors. Also, don't be a bio major unless you are genuinely interested in taking the courses. You can still take the cool bio courses while being another major and avoid all the ****ty bio courses that have nothing to do with medicine. Med schools don't give a krap about your major..but being an art or music or something else like that will def make you stand out in a good way. Your grades matter first and foremost.

When you take your bio, chem, physics with labs, try to give 110% cause it will only make your MCAT simpler 😉

Hi Milligan,

Are you planning on doing the BS/DO program?

Like gmcguitar said, focus on grades, ECs and MCAT. Nova is big on community service, so find some groups that interest you and have fun while helping the community! Major in something that interests you. Any major is fine as long as you put in the work to complete your pre-reqs + some upper-level sciences.

No dual-admission. I am a transfer student "Math Major". I am coming straight out of the Navy to college.

Yeah I saw that they have a ton of clubs and community service, so I am definetly going to join the pre-soma club.

NSU has about 250 seats open a year for COM, so I am hoping by being a NSU Shark with a good GPA & MCAT will pretty much give me a great chance of being accepted to Medical School.

Sounds good. NSU-COM likes great MCAT scores as well. Being a Shark with a great GPA and MCAT will be a great package. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you. Don't hesitate to shoot me a PM. Good luck!

Are you attending NSU? Pre-med or COM

NOVA COM and their professional programs are good. But I heard their undergrad programs are mostly watered down because they want most students to pass. Again, these are anecdotes from a friend who have interacted with many nova students majoring in bio. He told me he was shocked to see these students did not know a lot basic concepts in most of the science subjects. Do your own research. Also, once you start try to compare what you learn to other students who are attending FAU or FIU to see if there are major discrepancies.

I have heard that before too, that it is really easy and really expensive so you pay for your degree or something like that.

But I really want to go to there COM so I am committed.

Can anyone give some info. on how important your non-science gpa is?
