Nova vs Michigan

If you were accepted to both schools, where would you go? Which school has a higher speciality rate?

Would have to agree. Great research opportunities (ranked in top 5 I believe), good speciality rate, and early clinical exposure (I hear you can do simple fillings on patients beginning the latter part of 2nd year). As part of the curriculum you have a rotation at a clinic that provides services to the underserved areas in Michigan which I think is great. Not to mention U-M is highly regarded by people in the profession, but for some I know that doesn't really matter.

I'm a strong advocate about being someplace where you will be happy. You will get a top notch dental education regardless of where you are. Every school will prepare you well.

I hear its hard to get a license in Florida unless you go to dental school there. Do you want to practice in Florida?

I would chose NOVA. I chose U of M over UCSF last year and regret the decision. Take that for what its worth...

I really hope the answer isn't something to do with the weather...That seems to be everyone's gripe when it comes to Michigan...

Nothing to do with the weather. I was born and raised in MI.

U of M isn't awful, I just wish I would have chosen somewhere else.

Edit: on second thought pm if you want my advice. Don't want to give my opinion to people who dont want it.

Glad to hear your thoughts, and I'm glad to hear it has nothing to do with the weather.
No offense, but some of my friends at other d-schools said a lot of the same things their first year, but as D3's, they're loving it.

Besides, UCSF has to be A LOT more expensive than Michigan.
