After working pretty hard for the last two weeks, I'm devastated.

My normal work paid off in Spanish and I should be getting an A.
My hard work paid off in a Lab and I somehow got high A's on my presentation/proposal.
It paid off in a Religion class as the final was a joke.
It paid off for my final in Biology as it was pretty easy.

However, I screwed myself on the quiz portion of the final (recent material). I second guessed myself last minute on almost half the questions, most of which I changed from the right answer to the wrong answer.
So I will not be doing as great as I thought I would. Quizzes are worth 56% (this one was 7%) and the final was only worth 20%.

I cannot screw up like this anymore. I cannot have anything lower than A's/A-'s/B+'s (ideally a mix of all) which would result in a 3.3-3.4 sGPA after junior year.

Should I:
1. transfer? - really don't like this option
2. major in something else (probably not higher than a 3.3 GPA either) then do a postbacc?
3. suck it up and work hard?

This seems like solid improvement compared to what you were telling us before. Do you have your final grades for the quarter yet?
We know that 2 weeks is probably not enough time to turn around your entire GPA, but a good start is a good start. Keep working hard IMO.

Monday and constantly refreshing blackboard for final exam scores.

Thank you, hopefully I don't dig myself into a deeper hole.

Suck it up and work hard.

I screwed up horribly this semester. Started off with a 60% on my first organic II exam (same professor last semester, got As on every exam then), then turned it around with a high A on the second one - so an A isn't out of the running (which I thought was).

Now for physics... I'm horrible in math, and now the best grade I can possibly get is a B after 3 horrible exams.

TLDR: There are people who have it way worse than you, and it's good to keep things in perspective.

Have you seen my other thread(s). I've been doing bad for a year and a half now! 😀

The quiz thing really pissed me off. The questions I missed were so easy and even GIVEN in a student packet. So I'm sure most people did a lot better than me.

Sounds like really solid improvement to me. Keep it up, and I you'll be getting the grades you want.
Thanks, worried for Bio though. 🙂

You're doing fine. Rebounding doesn't happen over a single semester. To give you a concrete example, my semester GPAs looked like this: 3.35 -> 3.6 (summer) -> 3.83 -> 3.93 -> 4.0 -> 4.0

It can be done.

3.

Kochanie is back. There is a bigger troll (no puppy tho so you guys are tied)

Good luck

A lot of times it helps to stick it out and make things work. Sometimes, the situation isn't your best fit. I went to a religious school in Idaho that I hated. I didn't like the academic environment and the crazy rules so I ended up transferring to a different school. This new school is much more competitive, but because I like it a lot more I'm doing wayyyy better here. If you're trying hard and not seeing the results, a change in scenery might help. Good luck!

My total GPA is doing better now, but not my science one. GR.

are you still waiting for your final grades?
Like I said, don't expect a major change in 2 weeks. But remember what you did these two weeks to get these kinds of results, and keep it up next quarter.

In the words of one of the adcoms at my UG's medical school "Upward trend is your friend"

Wait...it's been two weeks and you aren't magically making a 4.0? Time to give up (again) I guess...

When people suggested you work hard and improve your study habits in that other thread, you realize they were talking about months/years of investment in hard work right?

Yes.
Thanks, I know, I'm just worried I won't improve more.

I know, but I have little time left.

That's fine. Take things one step at a time. This semester your goal was to learn how to study better for your classes and you did that. You can work on increasing your science GPA next semester.

I'm just worried I won't improve more.
It seems like you've learned a lot about how to do well in class over the last two weeks. Now you need to focus on learning to stop all this worrying and self-deprecation.

Remember, the premed curriculum is a marathon, not a sprint. Your grades aren't going to turn around on a dime, but if you continue to put in the same level of effort that you've been putting in over the last two weeks for another year or two, you'll have very good shot of getting into med school. On the other hand, if you keep worrying so much and putting yourself down, you're going to wear yourself out long before you hit the finish line.

🙂 Thank you, I can't wait for next quarter.

Got almost a 100 on the final part of the final, but a 50% on the quiz part lmfao. My fault for not looking at recent material until 2 hours before the exam. So I ended up with a B, at least it's moving upwards!

great job on the final part though (and in general)! At least you know where you went wrong with the quiz.

#3. If you want to be a doctor, you're going to have to earn it.

No, I'm not. Pretty sure the "How is it fair...." thread pretty much ruined all the confidence I had. #2 here I come.

Ignore that thread!! Seriously. You have proven that you have what it takes to do well in your classes. Don't let someone else's struggles and complaints affect your education.

That thread is made from a troll. I hope you are smart enough to not listen to a troll

Purple love isn't even a puppy!

Nah, just a second of doubt. No more! 🙂

@Kochanie, you're doing very well. Keep it up. Don't let that thread get to you 🙂

Run, don't walk, to the admissions at UIC.

3 As, 1 B. Not bad for 2 weeks. 😀

congrats! That's awesome. Glad to see your heard work paid off. Enjoy your spring break and then start your new quarter off with this new mindset!

I had a dream of meeting kochanie, hahahaha

Are you a girl? Haha. You got into med school! :3
