So, I just learned from my last school, which I was wait-listed with, that I will most likely be rejected. I had a 3.41 and 3.58pGPA with 152, 152 and 4.5 GRE. I did not take Anatomy 1 or Anatomy 2 and a couple psych courses and still applied (I would have completed them if I was accepted from any school). My GPA has not changed much since applying.

My question is, is the main reason I did not get accepted because I didn't take Anatomy 1 and 2? Will I have a better shot next year with all my pre-requisite courses completed? And should I retake the GRE?

Thanks and congrats to all who got accepted.

You seem like the average, perfectly capable candidate. Don't see why or how you got rejected, but it all honestly depends on what schools you applied to and your class competition that year....

Only the admissions counselors can tell you why you were waitlisted or rejected or they will tell you the automatic "we had over X amounts of applications and it was a very tough decision. You should apply next year" response.

Try giving them a call. I feel like taking anatomy 1/2 right before you enter would benefit you in that you will be fresh on the subject for your first few PT courses

If you still had at least 4 outstanding classes (or more?) from what I gather from your post, I say that makes a big difference. Possibly other applicants had them all finished and it made you less competitive. Or maybe they didn't feel comfortable with your plan to finish them in time? (Ie without summer courses).

True, didn't completely read his post. Just get your classes done and re-apply. You should be fine. At least now you have a year to do whatever you'd like

Well it depends on the school, but for one school I was wait-listed with, I had 4 outstanding courses. But many others have a couple outstanding when they apply, my question was how much of an impact not completing the anatomy courses have on an application even though I would be completing them before PT school starts.

Despite what they tell you, schools do not like to see outstanding courses. They prefer applicants who have completed all their classes. And why not? Their GPA is set and schools can see how they have performed in all their classes. I know you don't want to re-apply, but that seems to be your only choice. Be strategic and finish all your coursework.

When you don't have a course completed and it shows not completed rather than "in progress" most schools won't even give you a look because they don't think you're serious, especially when it gets close to the deadlines for interviews. My advice would be to get those classes going so that they show they are in progress and that you are serious about PT! Good luck!

Ya, 4 outstanding pre-reqs was probably too much. Get them all done and get A's in them and you'll be a lot better off.

Thanks for the feedback! I hope that was the main reason why I didn't get accepted. This year I will apply to more schools just in case. Can anyone suggest any PT schools that accept students will lower GPA and GRE scores? I looked at a few such as Drexel, Temple, Midwestern Glendale, Franklin Pierce NH etc., but I was wondering if there were anymore I missed. Thanks.
