At the top of the chart there is a key. NP stands or Not Participating

It's on the top of the page. NP-Not participating in the CASPR match. They will interview after the CRIP and select residents anytime after their interview.

i saw the key at the top, but i was confused to whether not participating meant they were discontinuing their residency program altogether, not taking residency applications for next year, or what..

So these programs are just not utilizing the CASPR program?

I'm sorry, but could you please explain a little more. I thought all residency programs had to participate in the CASPR match?

No they do not have to participate in the CASPR. Years ago many of the "top" programs interviewed at their facility and seelcted the residents immediately. To confess our program was one of the culprits. Then some programs participated in the match but not the CRIPs. They would interview typically before the CRIPs and try to snag the top students. This causes increased cost for the students (traveling to multiple sites versus a few CRIP locations), created a system where programs were interviewing earlier and earlier to snag the "best" residents, and at times some interviewed during a CRIP weekend forcing students to chose between CRIPs or risk it all for one program. Now (I believe) all programs must participate in the match but have the option to not participate in CRIPs. They now must wait until after CRIPs to interview. Next year CRIPs for all programs will be held over a 2 week period at one location. This is a real plus for the students. It will be in Dallas.

NP means not participating, but that is the default setting.

If their CRIP location says "N/A" and date updated says "9/9/9999," then the program just didn't get their paperwork in yet. I'd imagine they'll update soon, but programs that have routinely done CRIP in the past will very likely be attending it again. Call the programs in a few months and ask where/when their interviews will be held if they haven't updated and you need to buy CRIP hotel + plane tickets.

However, if a program's CRIP location says "No" and date updated is this year (ie DeKalb Medical center in GA), then they have chosen not to interview at CRIPS. As mentioned, some programs conduct interviews at their hospital or just use the clerkship as the interview and select all residents from among their clerks.

As Podfather said, CASPR is the match... all programs participate.
CRIP is the centralized interviews... most do, some choose not to.
