I have registered ith NRMP about a week ago but it stil shows my ECFMG status is NOT verified yet although I am ECFMG certified long ago! anyone in the same boat or does anyone know how long it takes NRMP to contact your ECFMG / Dean's office to verify your status after you register?

whats up !! I have been ECFMG certified since september and my status is still unverified. I dont remember where I read it, but the NRMP doesnt verify your status till u start entering your rank order list. I wouldent worry much till then .. which is like mid January I think.

When did you register with nrmp ?

I emailed them about it and they sent me a generic reply What does ECFMG Status NOT VERIFIED mean?

After the initial registration deadline of December 1st, the NRMP contacts ECFMG® periodically before the rank order list deadline to verify whether graduates/students of international medical schools and Fifth Pathway program applicants have passed the required exams. If your status is NOT VERIFIED, ECFMG® has not yet confirmed that you have passed all exams necessary for ECFMG® certification. To be able to participate in the NRMP Match, ECFMG® must verify your exam status, NOT your ECFMG® certification status by the rank order list deadline.

So apparently they should contact ECFMG after the deadline of registration not after rank order list right? that is why Ia m a bit worried

they contact ECFMG after December 1 for verification. so, at that point, if you have passed your exams (you don't need ECFMG certification to be verified), they will give you the ok to participate in the match. for those of us who may not have all exam results in by Dec 1, they will continue to check with ECFMG up until rank order list day.

so, in short, nobody should be verified yet. don't worry about it. check back after Dec 1 and you should be verified by then.
