Do we need to know if troponin works in which type of muscle? I guessed on this question but I don't know if we need to know this level of specific details. thank you!
The AAMC content outline contains a surprising amount of detail about muscle types and contractions (probably more so than many, if not most areas of physio), including a specific bullet point about the "presence of troponin and tropomyosin" along with other bullet points about being familiar with different muscle types...so putting those facts together, the short answer is that yes, that level of detail is within bounds. Of course, like everything else with the MCAT, you have to prioritize when studying, and this factoid does lie on the relatively more detail-oriented end of the spectrum -- i.e., the kind of thing that we'd suggest worrying about mostly when you're feeling pretty confident in your baseline science knowledge.
