I'm going to NOVA next year. I just wondered if it is true that the girls are very good looking?

By the way do you know what kind of grades you need to have to get into the OMM fellowship program?

Hey man, I'm kind of dissapointed that someone who will be coming to Nova and who will one day become a physician couldn't think of anything better to say than "hey, are the girls at Nova good looking?"! 🙄

I guess its naiive of me to think that admissions is weeding out the sexists and immature, middle school types.

Oh, and by the way, anybody who makes half an effort can get A's in OMM at Nova. Getting the fellowship is all about WHO YOU KNOW!!! Joining the UAAO is a good idea and being actively involved in it is even better.

I know I have been rough on you, but come on!! You are going to be in medical school now. The "girls," as you call them, who will be attending class with you are some of the most intelligent, hard-working, independant women in society today. So please do us a favor and think of us that way, as intelligent human beings with much more to offer than looks. If you are so worried about meeting hot "girls," maybe you should have gone to bartending school. :wink:

To be honest, the women in South Fla. are very attractive. But the real question is, are the women in YOUR class hot, because you probably won't see too much of us next year. Also, I'm pretty sure you were just joking.
A lot of people can tell you that although Nova is pretty hard, we still manage to have a good time and get in a lot of laughs.

Yes, the class is loaded with hot chicks! Unfortunately, some of them are uptight, but those are usually the ugly ones. The class as a whole is quite attractive...but the best girls are probably in the PA program, and your head will sure turn when you see them in the halls. I will give you an example of our girls though: the beginning of the year, there was a bbq party, and by the end of the night, there was a lot of skinnydipping going on...so just stay away from the anal ones and you will be very happy!
 
BlueJay: Let me be the first to tell you that I have the atmost respect for my future female classmates and I will treat them so, but I'm with Doc Adam here about beautiful women at Nova. I don't believe that there are anything wrong to wish or want attractive classmates to help you learn and interact with. I'm sure that you rather have an intelligent "ATTRACTIVE" classmate to study with than an intelligent "UNATTRACTIVE" classmate to study with?! The bottom line is, yeah, attractiveness is not EVERYTHING, but it's ALWAYS good to have beautiful classmates! Just my thought.

Question for Choirgirl and D.O.C.:

Do you guys interact with the dental students much? I'll be in the dental side at Nova next year and I realize that we do share some classes with the DOs. In your experience, are the two programs clicky or do DOs and DMDs intermingle inside and outside of class?

We do have classes together, histology in the first semester and Neuroanatomy in the second. The individual programs pretty much make friends within their program. I mean, our class cliqued up in the first two weeks! Some people have friends in the other programs, it's not exclusive or anything, and I would certainly never snub anyone who wasn't part of my particular program. It's just that we don't ever interact.
I hope you're excited about moving to South Fla. It is certainly a culture shock.

I actually never dated in college or high school my grades and getting into Med School were to important.

What grades do you need for the OMM fellowship?

The fellow for my year failed the MS system (the system with the most OMM lectures) If you want the fellowship, join the OMM club and show intrest in OMM (this will seperate you from the vast majority of your classmates) I am a fourth year and maybe things have changed since my time in the OMM lab (They call it OPP now, for example)
BTW, I thought the OT's were hotter than the PA's. I guess things HAVE changed at nova. Hope this helps

Mates (not an intentional sexual reference, I swear),
Though most would classify me as the laid-back chica always crackin' up in class with other members of the stand-up krew, I must agree with bluejay on the fact that the constant cat-calls and sexual comments in classes get pretty old. The constant remarks and jokes are all in good fun, I realize (and I am known give a dispatriarchial retort), it just sucks when the mentality carries over to intellectual pursuits. There is a marked difference in the "respect" a female will get from male classmates-ESPECIALLY if the male thinks the female is good looking. I'm not bashing (at this point in time :wink: - it's a legit "complaint" (aka observation). Though I love the rhetoric, I just wish the inequality were not the case. Perhaps if there is no way of un objectifying women in our class, could we at least compensate by overobjectifying men. Perhaps the dress code should be only boxers for males :wink: , with the hope that eventually their flaccid male egos wouldn't manifest itself into their professional interactions with us (girls :wink: . 😛
