I don't want to seem annoying and have to ask, but would you share your stats? I'm so super nervous that i'm gonna get waitlisted or denied from Nova and after visiting, I really loved it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! Staying positive!!
No prob--posted it below! I also got a 302 on the GRE and a 3.5 on writing

What do you guys think? Do my stats seem to compare to any of yours? It's really my GRE score that i'm worried about but Keatta seemed to hint at that a higher GPA can outweigh that.

University of Connecticut
Major: Allied Health Sciences
Minor: Psychology
Overall GPA: 3.51
Last 60 credits: 3.52
Natural Science GPA: 3.33

OT Hours: 220 in combination from an outpatient rehab clinic, hospital and primary school

Other: Internship with American Red Cross, Volunteer with Operation Military Kids, Note-taker at Uconn for the students with disabilities center, power-yoga instructor, work at various fitness gyms, other entry level jobs, CPR cert, etc.

GRE: 294 and a 3.5 on the written (Scheduled to re-take soon)

I think you will be fine! Thanks for all that information I have a 3.3 overall, 3.8 last 60 credits and I don't know my natural science GPA off the top of my head, but I have a lot of hours because I've worked at an occupational therapy facility for the past year and a half. Our GREs are very familiar, I got a 290 and a 4 on writing.

That's great! Do you know what the average class age is roughly? Like are most students straight out
of college or are many married with children? Also how many per cohort? Does the entire cohort take every class together or are they broken down sometimes for classes or for labs?

So say 50-53 students get accepted every May. They only accept once a year in May. This year will be the Tuesday after Memorial Day so I believe it starts May 31, 2016! So all of those 53 students will take every single class and lab together. Stay together for the whole program! When I audited one of the classes, it looked like it ranged from probably 20's-30's in age? Some students were a little older but for the most part it was around there. Maybe only a hand full of males, most were female but they do say that male OT's make more money so it's good for them!!

You seem fine to me! My GPA sucks (3.0) but my pre req GPA is close to a 3.7...I have about 400 hours total and also do a lot of volunteer work with kids with disabilities. Were you invited for a video essay?

Yes! I submitted my video maybe a couple days before Thanksgiving!

You guys rock! Thanks, makes me feel better to know we're all pretty similar!

Does anyone know any more information about the dress code? I know for clinical / fieldwork stuff we need to wear the polos , white coat, or scrubs. But I can't tell if the dress code also applies for class too?

The students in class usually wore their scrubs or regular everyday clothes. They mostly wore scrubs since they had lab most of the days

Has anyone put down a deposit yet? I put mine down Monday but haven't heard anything from the school yet regarding any additional information...just the receipt of my purchase. Has anyone received anything else?

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one!
I put mine down today at the campus! The woman who gave me a tour of the health professions building and OT program was extremely nice! She said once the class spots are mostly filled we will receive a packet in the mail usually around Jan/Feb! That's the building we will spend all of our time in!

Ah phew I'm glad she said that! And the building looks gorgeous! Did you get to see the classrooms?
Yes, there's lecture halls big and small and then OT is on the second floor with PT and osteopathic medicine. The floor is color codes so the right was blue for us and PTs and the green is for osteopathic medicine. In the building there's a cafeteria area for health professions, a library, and a break room on the second floor with a pool table, ping pong tables, tv a couches and sitting area. I saw the OT lab/classroom and met a few of the first year OT students. They also said we will get a student ambassador around February and they will set up a Facebook group so we can all meet and get to know each other. I didn't see the cadavour lab but I Believe she said that was on the third floor with a pharmacy area and was newly renovated about 5 years ago. Everyone was super nice and even on a rainy day it was beautiful ! And we start the last week in May right after Memorial Day.

Awesome! Sorry for some many questions--what were people wearing in classes? I'm concerned about the dress code (I live in workout clothes) so just want to make sure I have the right clothing ! 🙂

Everyone I saw was in scrubs! I did see maybe 3 people with sweaters leggings and boots, but I'm not sure if they were students or not.

Do you know about how many males are in their program per year?
I honestly didn't ask and she didn't say. There were definitely a lot of males in the health professions building but I didn't see any in the OT scrubs .. Granted I only saw about 7 girls in the egg plant colored scrubs because I think they were at lunch break.

Can anyone tell me how long it took after your OTCAS application was verified to get an invitation to submit the video?

Mine was verified 10/15 and I was invited to submit the video via e-mail on 11/5. For those who have been notified of their acceptance, I should be hearing back as early as next week according to their 4-8 week review period window, so I was wondering if I should expect to be told over e-mail or a phone call?

Email! I was invited 10/21 and accepted via email 11/16.

Have any of you that have been accepted started thinking about living arrangements? Or know a little about the area? I want to say the paper work I received in the mail said that estimated rent cost of campus is $28000 for a year.??!!? Idk about you guys, but 2,300 a month for an apartment is crazy.

There are a ton of apartments in the area within a mile or two outside of campus! I personally am going to do on campus because it's just easier for me. My friend who goes to nova now sent me a whole list of apartments in the area to check out:
AMLI Toscana place
Palm trace landings
New river cove
The palms
Gardens at nova
Elan 33 west

And there is a roommate/housing finder at http://www.nova.och101.com/

When I went out there I went to a bunch of the different apartment complexes right near the campus and for a studio/1 bedroom they averaged 12-1300 and then a 2 bedroom places was like 1350-1500.

Latest from Keatta: 15 acceptances were awarded so far (around thanksgiving) and they said it's starting to look like the rest of us will find out after the new year...

Has anyone who is planning on attending heard anything further? I plan on living on campus and really want to get that squared away.

I'm pretty sure if your planning on living on campus in the rolling hills apartment you can just contact housing. I just got an email confirming they got my payment and when I was there she said we'd get more information in Jan/Feb when more of the class was full.

Hi everyone, my girlfriend applied to NOVA not too long ago (sorta late) and just now received notification that a fedex package has been shipped from NOVA. Does anyone know what this is about ? THANK YOU

When did she apply? I'm waiting to hear any response, and I submitted mine at the very beginning of November

Hey guys! I recently submitted my application (december) and I was recently invited to submit my video essay (1/4). I am now just waiting to hear about an acceptance decision! Good luck to the rest of you waiting to hear back!

For those of you who attended a backstage pass, did you find it helpful? I put my deposit down already and would like to visit the campus and figure out housing options, so I want to know if I should reserve a spot for a backstage pass in the coming months.

I didn't do the backstage pass. I just contacted Keatta and set up a tour of the health professions building. With that I saw and got a tour of the building, where the OT lab is, lecture halls, and happened to have to opportunity to speak with a handful of first year students. I'm not sure if that's what your looking for. I heard the backstage pass is good and very informative.

Nice, I might do that instead. Thanks!

Hi!

I got accepted about a month ago and put my deposit down a couple weeks ago. Has anybody heard anything new?

Can we make a facebook page for our new class. So excited!
I haven't heard anything new! I think they said by February we would hear more. I also think someone mentioned they would be making a Facebook group...but I'm not sure! I would love to connect with everyone on Facebook if anyone wants to message me their info! 🙂

Yea I was told a student mentor type person that's currently enrolled would do all that. But if nothing happens by Feb. I think we should make our own group!
