Hey guys,

I was wondering if I could get some advice in regards to choosing between these two schools. I was recently accepted to NSUCOM and ROWANSOM.

I've looked at the match list for both schools and they seem very good.

Tuition wise, Rowan is about 7k more expensive which is definitely a negative for me, especially with the Canadian dollar being so bad.

If money wasn't the only issue, which would you recommend NSU or Rowan?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

either or. Doesn't matter. South Florida might be a nice change of pace from Canada. You could escape the cold for 4 years

Also look at cost of living factored in.

I really, REALLY like RowanSOM. It's a good school. That said, NSU is also a great great school and they have some awesome clinical experiences as we well.

Have you considered what type of patient population you would be working with come third year?

How about research opportunities? Which one has faculty that are doing work that you may be interested in?

I currently live in Vancouver, so not really cold here haha. The cost of living defs cheaper at Rowan but tuition is 7K more so it kind of balances it out.

Do you mind me asking what you really like about Rowan? One of my main reasons why I'd want to go to NSU i think is because they give a research scholarship which can cover your 3rd and 4th year tuition which is beyond amazing. I don't believe ROWAN has any such opportunities unless I missed it.

Only 2 people can get that scholarship.

ya, but there is also another OMM fellowship that is eligible for several students. Having these opportunities are def better than not having them at all in my opinion.

Omm is 2 students also. Grand total of 4. It's competitive I wouldn't assume I was getting it. However I agree its good to have. Nyit has something similar.

During my interview they said that OMM fellowship is about 6 students but they don't necessarily have a set number. They just pick the very top students out of who apply.

I thought last year they told me 2 but I might have been off on the number. I do know that its very competitive though. That was my basic point.
