So far I love it here. The classmates are great and I'm happy I chose this school over several others.

Some of the highlights I like, good location, great classmates, lots of hard classes and work, good rotations, early clinical exposure, nice facilities, shared resources with dental/pharm/OT/PT/PA/nursing/opto schools/insane major library, populated diverse community near a major city, great international airport with cheap flights, and did I mention we are near the beach and south beach?

There are couple of threads about NSUCOM on here for info and you might want to check them out too.

Its a great school and if you have specific questions on things check out the threads and feel free to post. There are plenty of us here to give our .02

hey..thanks...i can't wait to get there and see the campus..hopefully the intv. will go well. 😀

I graduated from NSUCOM in 2003. Good school. I was from the DC area but went to FL for medical school and am finishing up my EM residency in Tampa. Ft. Laud is a fun place to live!

Doc2b I know someone that graduated from nsucom that got a surgery residency. Although he learned 2 years later that he hated surgery and went into emergency medicine is besides the point. His wife also graduated from nsucom and scored an allopathic radiology residency.

congrats on the invite mzafaran!!  hope all goes well at the interview, just don't sweat!! 😀

I'd just add to this and say if you call try in the afternoon. I remember when I applied and they usually were busy with interviews/other crap in the morning and they were more prone to pick up the phone later in the day.

P.S. congratz to all of you who and coming for an interview and good luck!

I sent an e-mail and called...still no reply (1 week ago). I'm going to try again this week. Goodluck to everyone!

thanx guys for responding...i think i'm gona call them 🙂

I'm almost positive that your day starts at 9 am. I'm a second year student, and if you are interviewing on the 16th, I will be one of the people giving your tour. We changed the interview process quite a bit from last year, including starting later, and I'm pretty sure it is 9 am. I think you have stuff for 9 to 10, and then the actual interviews start at 10.

Congrats on getting an interview so early. Let us know how it goes.

I was like you and was not getting a reply. I sent an email to their general response people
[email protected]
and got a reply within an hour or so. Try there

Thanks. I just e-mailed them at that e-mail address, hopefully I'll get a reply this time 🙂 I'll see you at the interview on the 20th.

Where are you staying? My wife and I are going to the B & B they suggested. Hopefully, no hurricanes this weekend 😱

Anybody have any clue if my wife is invited on the tour, etc...? I know some schools have seperate events for spouses, significant others, parents, etc... who wish to tag along.

Nope, the wife/signif other is not invited for the tour. It happens in the middle of your interview day...sorry! You are best to leave family at home/hotel, but after the interview, come back to the school and show them around. It is a beautiful campus.

Looking forward to it...it's almost here!! 🙂 I hope yall have a safe trip down.

Interviewed and accepted at NSU last year. I had a hard time turning it down because I was sooooo impressed with it.

The campus is BEAUTIFUL.
Everythign is brand new.
Nice faculty that is getting more into research.
Good restaurants near by (this is important for me... 🙂
Tech-savy campus
Good board scores and match lists

A note on the interview day.... Best Western is fine. It's got a nice pool and is right across the street from NSU. It's a long day, so be prepared to have the stamina. The interview itself is group-format. It's a panel of 3-5 faculty/docs who interview 1 student for 15-30 minutes. They read your file extensively, so be prepared to answer things in your app.

if you've gotten an interview, you have anexcellent shot at getting in, esp this early in the game. I forget the admission stats, but they're pretty high from what I recall.

Best of luck!

It's about a 70% chance of acceptance(roughly) after being invited for an interview. so you all have a pretty good chance if you get that all important interview.
