Is the answer A? I think the mass number stays the same because the proton went in and the neutron left. Both a proton and neutron are similar in mass. The addition of the proton changes the atomic number which is why the element changes. At least thats my solution. I could be wrong. 😳

Mg has 12 protons, and combining with neutron resulted in 22, which means that there are 10 neutrons. if we add neutron into it, then that would be 12protons, and 11neutrons. It's still Mg since it has same number of proton with Mg. anyway the product side is Mg-23, ok?

now let's look at the reactant side.
x + proton ==>Mg-23
something + proton should have 12 protons and 11 neutrons
so X has to be 11 protons and 11 neutrons.
Thus it's Na-22.
why? because 11 protons = Na (look at the periodic table and that's how u find it 🙂)


I say A is the answer.
