Does anyone know how to do a protein extraction on a sample to keept both membrane and nucleic proteins? I already have a protocol for membrane proteins but I don't know how to extract nucleic proteins. Thanks.

I assume you might be referring to nuclear membrane proteins? The following link is a review on nuclear envelope proteins and their relationship to proteins and chromatin. Maybe within the review are some articles with some methods that explain specialized techniques for nuclear membrane protein extraction.

Also, thinking about it, a typical nuclear extraction method involves isolating whole nuclei, maybe before the nuclei are subsequently lysed/homogenized you can follow typical cellular membrance protein extraction techniques to isolate nuclear envelope proteins?

A useful resource for those of us whose PI's are too cheap to just buy the damn kit.
