Number of applicants interviewed by programs--

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think this database is limited by whether or not the program submitted a survey, which was used to create the database.

It does not really matter how many people the interview... you either get an invite or you don't... and you either get ranked or not... you really never know what goes on behind the scenes.

From my research, many programs invite about 20 % of applicants. Application numbers vary by program, and of course that percentage can change depending on the exclusivity.

The more I think about how this whole thing works, the more confused I get. There is really no good way to gauge whether or not you are going to get ranked / matched.

I mean...if you cannot take what programs say to you seriously (eg. "we would rank you very high" or something to that effect), then all you have left is your gut feelings...

If you get invited to a reach program, then there is no penalty for ranking that # 1... if you have the interview from hell... there is no penalty for ranking that # 1.

The match is designed for you to rank where you want to go as you desire... not by what some database or PD tells you by a postcard.

Bottom line: Go to the interviews. Rank the programs as you would want to be there... don't listen to PD's telling you that you will get ranked high (see the NRMP website talking about PD's making such promises). Let Hal the NRMP computer sort it out.

I just checked this out and can't find a way to get a per program interview result, any help?

So you do a search for whatever program you need... https://freida.ama-assn.org/Freida/user/viewProgramSearch.do Once you find and select the program you need to click on the general information link at the top to find the number of interviewees. Yes it does depend on whether the program submitted the info or not. Some programs wont even have this link.
