I am going to attend a clinical psychology master program in this Fall. The curriculum of the program that I have entered has only one required course in general psychopathology (with child psychopathology as an elective). While I have overviewed the curriculum of the other clinical psychology master programs that I have been admitted to they generally have two courses in psychopathology, which are divided into the adult and children part and spanned over two semesters. Is the curriculum of my current program congruent with the conventional training model in clinical psychology? Will there be enough coverage in the contents of psychopathology within the time of one semester period?

Thanks.

Psychopathology should enter into *many* of your courses at a clinical/counseling/school psych program, regardless of whether or not they have that in the title. For example, therapy, assessment, and theory courses will likely contain a lot of information on psychopathology. Even "general" courses (e.g., cognitive psych, behavioral psych) will often contain content related to psychopathology. You should learn a good deal about psychopathology via practicum and supervision as well. Honestly, I wouldn't let this be a factor in your decision.

Thanks for your idea. Indeed I have already enrolled into the program. Just curious about the curriculum setting since I have a great deal of interests in psychopathology and I would like to learn more in this aspect. 🙂

In any decent clinical program, you should get that across courses (and in research and prac), so I wouldn't worry. 🙂

That's similar to what my (PhD) program offers.
