how many osteopathic physicians are graduated per year? (i know some schools have 300 students per year,some have bout 100)

how many osteopathic physicians are there in the states?

is it true that more and more osteopathic physicians are heading toward medical specialties than before? (from many posts and articles i've read, i feel many more new osteopathic graduates are applying toward specialized fields, is this trend going upward?)

I think around 2500 students graduate each year from colleges of osteopathic medicine. There are around 45,000 D.O.s in the U.S. 60% of graduating osteopathic students elect to enter a primary care specialty for residency. There are certainly more D.O.s entering specialty residencies now than 30 years ago but to say that it is trending that way I think is a reach. The majority of osteoapthic colleges have as part of their mission statement that they are interested in training primary care physicans.
