just wondering how many blocks you guys are doing during residency. my place says we'll do around 200-300 blocks total during the course of our training. Is that a high, average or low number?

i would guess that there are a very few programs above that, a very few programs with very low numbers, and most programs between the two. i did about 200 blocks with 10 weeks dedicated regional, typically split with either a lower level or upper level, but its much busier now, id imagine our residents are pushing 250-300, not including epidurals

Two years ago, it was not unusual for our residents to graduate with twice those numbers, but we were definitely outliers. The last two years, though, our block volume has been way down, so most of our residents graduated with 200-300 blocks or catheters. The civilian programs in the area had significantly fewer blocks, so we are likely still on the higher end of the range.

About 100-150 single shot, 25-50 of those catheters. Big well-rounded academic program, but I would consider regional an area for improvement.

My program was very resident dependent for blocks.

I was super aggressive and did them as much as I could. I would say I got about 200. There are some residents that only had 50.
