Hi friends
I have a question about the scores after 2012. I am planing to take NBDE 1 in the early of 2011. my question is , if I took the exam in 2011 and applied to the school in 2012, Does the ADA report the NBDE results as a numerical scores or as pass/fail?

Thanks in advanced 🙂

you will get only your numerical scores if u took exam before 2012 and even if u order extra score reports after 2012.(meaning u ll retain ur numerical scores forever if u took before 2012)

Thank you very much kritsdent. I realy appreciate you answer 🙂

But I am still confused 😕 What I meant is that: If I took the NBDE-1 exam in 2011 and got the results ( which are numerical scores) and then applied to the dental school in 2012 and I asked the ADA for an exam report to be send directly to the dental school, "Will they send the numerical scores or just the pass/fail result?"

I think you should ask ADA. Nobody has any idea what ADA gonna do!!

U WILL HAVE ONLY NUMERICAL SCORES IF U GIVE EXAM BEFORE 2012.

PASS/FAIL IS FOR CANDIDATES WHO GIVE EXAM AFTER 2012.

SO IF U GIVE EXAM BEFORE 2012 AND ORDER COPY EVEN IN 2020 U LL GET UR NUMERICAL SCORE.

Eg: u get 90 in part 1 in 2011 and u apply in 2012/13/14/15......ADA will send ur score as 90 and not as PASS.

hope it is clear now

its given in ada website.check it out..

Thank you so much Harry747 and Kritsdent for your replay🙂
I've contacted ADA and explained the situation to them and they sent this email to me:

"After December, 31st 2011 there will no longer be reporting of numerical scores for the NBDE. All scores will reported as pass or fail after that. Thank you,"

what I understand from this email that they will report your result as pass/ fail after December, 31st 2011 even if you took your exam before December, 31st 2011. Am I right?

It could still mean all scores after 2011. Schools will probably change the requirements accordingly. Have to wait and see. The schools will have to get through this cycle, the next one before they think of 2012 cycle. So you have to wait to see what happens.

I've replied to their email to get more clarification about this subject and they send this email to me:
"The next meeting of the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations will take place in the coming Spring, the final disposition of all NBDE exam scores will be decided at that time. If you wish to stay informed please visit JCNDE News."

So, I think they didn't decide yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad that you asked directly to them. It's always better to read their news letters to get any updates. And nobody knows what would be admission criteria after 2012!!🙄
Keep all informed..
