I wish this forum had a dietian section. I had no idea where to put this thread. I hope the mods will move it to the correct place or the section they want it in.
A little about myself first.
I have a knack for science and, recently discovered, math. I had excellent grades until high school. I can remember in the 8th grade I started receiving stuff in the mail about college. Then it all went downhill.
I started getting fights at school because of my disability and people harassing me. I ended up homeschooling and earning my GED. Later on, I decided to give college a chance and so I took the ACT. I scored a composite score of 20 the first time, a perfect on the English part and near perfect on Reading. I actually scored in the top 25% of my class, my very first time. That's probably low compared to you guys, but I and my folks feel proud of me, especially since I only studied for it for two weeks and I didn't have a junior and senior year of high school.
So I went on to a community college. My high school GPA was still there, a 2.8 even though I had gotten an F in Spanish and C's and D's. I excelled there. I ended up transferring from the community college with a 3.6 GPA, 3.55 at the university I transferred to. I feel proud of myself, even though that is nothing compared to the smart people here. I bet you guys left High School with a 4.00 GPA and then some.
My first major was pre vet and now I am in nutrition, about to become a dietition. I have never ever taken a nutrition class, but I love and excel in science classes. I absolutely loved A&P and learning about the human body and how it functions.
So, I have some questions.
1. Since I loved classes like A&P and Biology, is there a good chance I will like being a nutrition major?
2. Can someone tell me a bit about Dietitian internship? I have a 3.75 program GPA, but I was told that I will need extra activities behind me. I am looking at joining ADA and the university's dietitian association. I was told I need to look at an honor's society as well. Can I get some feedback on this?
3. Are there any other careers and fields I should be looking at before I commit myself fully to nutrition?
Thank you.
