This has been discussed before I am sure. I am a nutrition major with a pre med option. I have plenty of upper level sciences but some of my nutrition courses I would like to count as a science. For instance, pathophysiology of chronic disease and metabolism. Both science heavy courses. Can I count these as science courses and my other nutrition courses (i.e. Food and human environment) as non science? (They both have the same prefix NSCI but completely different types of courses)

I've heard ACCOMAS has a higher tendency to do so.

Well probably. I know all nutrition classes count. I plan to take a lot before I graduate along with upper level bio classes. Should be fine. I know Nutrition is labeled under Other Science and for Food and human environment, it will probably be placed under non science. But, if they have the course prefix of NSCI, it would still be considered nutrition (if that is the prefix that it stands for at your university).

Ok are you referring to the ACCOMAS application?

When in doubt, refer to the AACOMAS application instructions or give them a call. My wife is finishing an MS in clinical nutrition and dietetics and applying in the next few cycles, and the general rule that we've found for AACOMAS is that most of the classes count towards sGPA except for healthcare policy and public health type classes. Also, since prefixes can differ between universities, make sure you contact AACOMAS is you have any doubts.

Refer to the AACOMAS breakdown on their site. Pretty sure I remember all nutrition classes are other science.

I'm a nutrition major as well, and all nutrition classes count as "other science" on AACOMAS. My course prefixes are NFS (Nutrition and Food Science) but I don't think you should have any issues.

My school uses the same abbreviation for Nutrition. NFS is as O Grady said Nutrition and Food Science

Yes. Nutrition classes count as "other science" which is added into your sGPA for AACOMAS. I majored in nutrition and that helped bump my sGPA up

Ok did it count even your nutrition courses that weren't really science? Like the ones that were more about culture or humanities course?
