I plan on going to the NYC dental Meeting. Has anyone been? How is it?
Any suggestions on where to stay? I'm a dental student, trying to save some money. Thanks guys

Is this the Greater NY Dental Meeting in November? It's just like any other dental meeting. Hotels were cheap a few years ago but have gone back up to ridiculous level. Maybe try http://www.couchsurfing.org/ for a place to sleep.

It's a giant dental product flea market ( ;

I live in NJ and have gone since I was in hygiene school. It runs every Thanksgiving weekend into the following Wednesday I believe.
Hotels in the city are super expensive! You may want to stay in Jersey City and just catch the ferry in. You can get some free CEU's and you might want to make a nice weekend out of it. Go to a nice dinner and a broadway show after the convention.

they give gifts to students?
They gave a lot of stuff my first year there (2009) but the next 2 years haven't been as good. It's a good place to wander around for a couple hours but if you aren't planning on doing any CE courses at all it will get a little boring after that.

Try getting a hotel in NJ within walking distance (or cheap cab fare) of an NJ transit train station. That will bring you into Penn Station (34th and 7th) and the Javits Center is 34th and 11th (a few long avenues down, walking).
